The National Geographic Society seeks proposals from around the world that will engage students and other citizen scientists in activities to address real world problems and lead to actions in science and conservation. Applicants should design and/or implement tools that support citizen science work, particularly data collection or data analysis. Applicants may request up to US$30 thousand. National Geographic Society — Middle School Planetary Stewards

The National Geographic Society seeks middle school students and educators in the United States, Mexico, and Canada to submit proposals for creative projects that address one of the focus areas of Human Journey, Wildlife, or Changing Planet. Projects should move students from engagement to inspiration to action and increase students’ appreciation of the natural world, exhibiting increased cultural empathy and understanding. Applicants may request up to US$15 thousand, although grants are typically between US$5 thousand and US$10 thousand. The deadline for applications is 10 July 2019. Details

World Academy of Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships in Malaysia

TWAS offers postdoc fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang, Malaysia. The duration of the fellowships is 12 months to 3 years. Subject areas range across the physical and natural sciences, including agricultural sciences. Government of India — Training Courses in India

The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme invites international candidates from developing countries to apply for training courses scheduled during October-December in India. Topics for this period include courses in the themes of power, renewable & alternative energy; agriculture and rural development; environment & climate change; and others. The program covers transportation and visa costs, course fees, accommodation, and living and book allowances for course participants. Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology — Training Courses, Seminars, and Workshops 2019

The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMO BIOTROP) aims to increase the knowledge and skills of ASEAN professionals and students on a wide range of topics in tropical biology. Unless otherwise indicated, training courses are conducted at the SEAMEO BIOTROP headquarter in Bogor, Indonesia. Priority is for nationals of SEAMEO member countries, especially in the sponsored courses. The remaining BIOTROP courses and seminars for 2019 are scheduled from July through October. Application forms should be submitted to the respective course coordinators at least one month in advance of any event. Link

Royal Geographic Society — Land Rover Bursary

The Land Rover Bursary supports researcher and explorer teams by providing funding of up to £30 thousand and the loan of a vehicle. The bursary is intended to be used for a journey with a geographical purpose where the capabilities of a Land Rover are indispensable. The application deadline is 30 November 2019. The Land Rover Bursary will not be awarded for 2020 and 2021. Know more

Minnesota Zoo — Ulysses S. Seal Conservation Grant Program

The Minnesota Zoo (USA) sponsors the Ulysses S. Seal Conservation Grant Program to award small grants to projects promoting the conservation of wildlife. Funding priority is given to field-based conservation, but worthy zoo-based projects are considered. Since its inception in 2002, the fund has awarded over US$460 thousand to more than 200 projects in 50 countries. Interested applicants need to work with a Minnesota Zoo staff member to champion the project. There is no application deadline. Info

United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization — Fellowship Program in Archeology and Conservation

UNESCO/Poland invites applications to the Co-Sponsored Fellowship Program in Archeology and Conservation. The program will award five fellowships of eight months duration each. Travel and insurance will be covered by UNESCO. Fellows will receive a monthly allowance of PLN 1600. Candidates should have a Bachelor or Master degree in Archaeology or Conservation and be no more than 40 years old. Candidatures should be submitted by the invited Member States: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey. University of Michigan — Conference on Sustainability and Development 2019

The University of Michigan seeks abstracts for presentations, workshops, and applications for financial assistance from students and scholars from lower-income countries for participation in the international conference on Sustainability and Development (11-14 October 2019). The conference themes are Sustainable Development and Indigenous Peoples, Climate Change, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Health, Biodiversity and Conservation, Energy Provision and Access, among others. The Sustainability and Development Initiative supports a limited number of participants from lower income countries with small grants to cover registration, travel, and accommodation. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Monarch Butterfly Conservation Fund 2019

The Monarch Butterfly Conservation Fund supports efforts to increase the population numbers of monarch butterflies in North America (USA, Mexico, Canada). The priority is projects in the eastern population’s migratory flyway. Proposals are also invited for projects in the western USA, Canada, and Mexico. Grants are up to two years in length, and will generally range from US$50 thousand to US$300 thousand. The funding is available for activities that fall within the areas of habitat restoration and improvement. The program requires matching funds of at least 1:1.
