São Paulo Research Foundation — International Research Collaboration 3/2019

The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) offers seed funding to support the exchange of researchers under the program “São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration” (SPRINT). The 3/2019 call seeks collaborations with selected partner research organizations in Austria, UK, Canada, Colombia, Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden, and United States. The fields of joint research interest include environment, energy, and others — varying with each partnership. FAPESP also considers proposals from institutions that do not currently have an agreement with FAPESP if these institutions can present matching funds. The deadline for proposals is 28 October 2019. Scottish Government — International Development Small Grants 2020

The Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme provides project funding in support of the government’s International Development Policy. Applications for grants are invited from incorporated not-for-profit organisations which have a presence in Scotland and an annual turnover of less than £250 thousand. Project grants should focus on any of Malawi, Rwanda, or Zambia in themes of food security; renewable energy; climate change; water; and others. Grants for capacity building and feasibility studies will be accepted in relation to any country designated as medium/low on the UN’s Human Development Index — but with priority for Malawi, Rwanda, and Zambia. Awards are a maximum of £15 thousand for one-year feasibility studies and capacity building initiatives. The application deadline is 08 November 2019. About the small grants

MAN Truck & Bus AG — Support for Social Ventures

The MAN Impact Accelerator seeks social entrepreneurs from Europe, South Africa, and Brazil to tackle social and environmental challenges through innovative solutions in the transport and logistics industry. Social businesses and startups in the key areas agriculture, data analytics (including environmental data), sensors, among others, are invited to apply. The program provides indirect grants and support of up to US$50 thousand (no equity or cash) for each startup. Save Our Species — Threatened Species Conservation in Central Asia

Save Our Species (SOS) makes grants for conservation actions on threatened species and their habitats in Central Asia. This Call is accepting proposals targeting the conservation of the Goitered Gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa) and the Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) and their habitats in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Grants will range from CHF 25 thousand to CHF 200 thousand with a maximum project duration of 18 months. SOS requires matching resources in relation to grant size. Earth Journalism Network — Mesoamerican Reef Story Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to journalists in Central America to support in-depth and investigative reporting on environmental issues related to the Mesoamerican Reef in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras. EJN expects to award around six grants ranging from US$500 to US$1,000 depending on the proposal and reporting format. Eligibility extends to early-career and mid-level journalists (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with proven track record of reporting on the effects of climate change and environmental degradation. Irish Aid — Ireland-Africa Fellows Programme 2020/21

Irish Aid offers scholarships to qualified candidates from Africa to undertake Masters degrees at universities and colleges in Ireland. Awards are made in the fields development studies, rural development, biodiversity conservation, and many other subject areas relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory. The scholarship covers course fees, flights, accommodation, monthly allowances, insurance and other incidental expenses. Eligible countries are Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — PhD Fellowship in Environmental Biotechnology

IHE Delft offers a PhD fellowship as part of the “NOMAD” Project to evaluate different methods for the removal of endocrine disrupters. Research will take place at the laboratory of IHE Delft (The Netherlands). The Fellow will receive €1190 /month, plus allowance for books and study materials. Candidates must have a Master’s degree in environmental biotechnology, environmental engineering, sanitary engineering, or similar to be considered for this fellowship. Fundación La Caixa — Work4Progress Challenge

The Work4Progress challenge seeks projects that generate new employment opportunities for women and young adults in India, Mozambique and Peru. Renewable Energy Solutions for Africa Foundation — Training Course: Deployment of Renewable Energy Solutions

Renewable Energy Solutions for Africa Foundation, in partnership with Enel Foundation, invites applications for the two weeks advanced training course “Deployment of renewable energy solutions: challenges and opportunities” (Italy, November 2019). The course targets professionals serving in public institutions, energy companies, energy centers, universities and research agencies in the Africa Region. 40 selected participants will be awarded the Enel Foundation Scholarship which covers tuition fee, travel and accommodation costs. Commission for Environmental Cooperation — Grant Program on Adaptation to Extreme Events

The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) accepts applications from organizations seeking to enhance their community’s ability to prepare for extreme events such as droughts, floods, wildfires, and other consequences of climate change. Projects are funded for a maximum duration of 12 months with a contribution of up to C$165 thousand.
