European Commission — Eco-Tourism Development in Botswana
The European Commission (EC) supports the development eco-tourism activities with focus on community-based, economically-viable ecotourism enterprises, conservation and heritage areas. The Commission provides funding to projects that develop community-based and nature-based tourism activities, diversify the tourism offer in Botswana, promote eco-friendly tourism practices and conservation activities in and around protected areas, and implement activities that increase the participation of local communities in the tourism industry. Applicants may request between €500 thousand and €750 thousand for the implementation of their proposed project. StartupXs — COVID-19 Response Fund
StartupXs launches the COVID-19 Response Fund for start-ups and social enterprises with the aim to support early-stage social entrepreneurs to adapt to the pandemic. Support extends to social entrepreneurs whose projects focus on natural resources as well as other categories of the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Participation is open to any start-up or social enterprise worldwide. Priority is given to early-stage start-ups launching innovative products or ideas. One winner will receive US$1000. International Water Center — International Masters Scholarships (Integrated Water Management)
Australia’s International Water Center announces funding for international candidates accepted into the Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia. Two scholarships will cover full tuition and living expenses of up to AU$95,564 (Type A Scholarship), and a third will cover full tuition of up to AU$58,989 (Type B Scholarship). Applications are invited from eligible countries in Asia-Pacific; Africa; Latin America and Caribbean; the Middle East; Europe; and North America. European Union and the Government of India — India-EU Joint Call on Integrated Local Energy Systems
The EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership seeks to strengthen international cooperation in renewable energy research and innovation. Proposals should develop and demonstrate novel energy solutions for higher energy efficiency. The project must be carried out by a consortium of at least three organizations from India and three entities from Europe. Online Turf offers £500 for full time education of an agricultural or horticultural subject field. Eligibility extends to students enrolled full time in an agricultural or horticultural course in university or college. DG Trésor — Innovative Solutions for the Reduction of Waste
DG Trésor invites companies to submit innovative ideas and project proposals for innovative solutions for the reduction and recovery of waste in the developing world. Up to 12 selected French SMEs and start-ups will receive up to €500 thousand to implement their project idea. Proposed projects can fall within the areas of general waste management, environmental management, energy recovery from waste, or agricultural waste management, among others. Lion’s Share — Resilience in Wildlife Community Grants
The Lion’s Share supports initiatives in communities dependent on wildlife-based tourism to withstand the current Covid-19 outbreak and other future global shocks. Small grants of US$20 thousand to US$50 thousand will be made to non-profit organizations in developing countries to implement local community actions to protect severely threatened ecosystems or wildlife. Projects should focus on innovative solutions to wildlife conservation challenges, while simultaneously enhancing local people’s well-being and livelihood. The application deadline is 15 May 2020. Chrysalis Trust — Grants for Livelihoods Projects
The Chrysalis Trust makes grants for the relief of poverty and disability, and the promotion of access to shelter, education, healthcare, and water. The geographical scope is locally in the North East of England; nationally in the UK; and internationally in developing countries. Past awards include examples of small-scale water projects and other support for local communities in Bangladesh, Zambia, Kenya, Syria, and elsewhere. Most grants are under £10 thousand.
