The Louis Malassis International Scientific Prize for Agriculture and Food recognizes contributions in research, development, and capacity building in the North, South, or the Mediterranean Region to sustainably improve food and agricultural systems while addressing food security and poverty reduction. The Prize will be awarded in three categories: distinguished scientist; promising young scientist; and outstanding career in agricultural development. The winner of each category will be awarded €20 thousand. Applications are open to academic and research organizations (private or public), civil society organizations, and the private sector (e.g., small/medium enterprises). LandSense — Data-driven Solutions for Environmental Monitoring
The LandSense Challenge targets individuals, web-entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs with innovative IT solutions for environmental monitoring. The IT solutions need to address one of the three LandSense domains: (1) Urban Landscape Dynamics; (2) Agricultural Land Use; or (3) Forest & Habitat Monitoring. Selected finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas online to an expert jury. The grand prize winner will receive €2,000 and a 1 year subscription to Sentinel Hub Enterprise. Adaptation Fund — Readiness Grants
The Adaptation Fund announces that small grants are available under the Climate Finance Readiness Programme. South-South Cooperation grants are intended to increase peer-to-peer support among accredited National Implementing Entities (NIEs) and those seeking accreditation. Project Formulation Grants (up to a maximum of US$50 thousand) help build the capacity of NIEs in project preparation and design. Technical Assistance Grants are aimed at strengthening the capacity of NIEs in the areas of environmental, social, and gender risk management. World Wildlife Fund U.S. — Professional Development Grants
WWF-US offers Professional Development Grants (PDGs) to help mid-career conservationists pursue non-degree training to upgrade their knowledge and skills. These trainings can include short courses, certificate trainings, or conferences among other training opportunities. Mid-career conservation professionals from select WWF-US priority countries (listed in the announcement) must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for a grant. East-West Center — Asian Development Bank: Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) provides support for Master’s degree study in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Oceanography, and Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences (among other fields of study) at the University of Hawai‘i. The scholarship program is intended for students from developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank. After completing their studies, scholars are expected to return to their home countries to share their new knowledge to promote socio-economic development. Interdisciplinary Conservation Network — Workshop for Early-Career Researchers
The Interdisciplinary Conservation Network (ICN) is a bi-annual workshop that provides a select group of early-career researchers with the opportunity to produce a collaborative piece of research, take part in capacity building activities, and develop global networks with fellow researchers. The ICN 2020-21 workshop structure includes a series of virtual collaborative meetings (September 2020 to April 2021) and a 3-day in-person event (April 2021) in Oxford, UK. ICN will provide accommodation and meals for non-Oxford based attendees. Additionally, up to six total bursaries will be available to support travel expenses for international attendees. Energy Generation — Africa Energy Generation Prize
The Africa Energy Generation Prize rewards young Africans who have an innovative project or idea in the energy, health, or agribusiness sector. Winners will have the chance to enroll in a free 2-year training program at one of three Energy Generation Business Schools and receive capacity development training which will allow them to transform their innovative idea into a viable startup. Applicants must prepare and submit two videos: a presentation video of the candidate (2 minutes) and a video presenting the innovative project (5 minutes). The African Water Resources Mobility Network (AWaRMN) invites applications for the Scholarship Mobility Program in Water Resources Management. Candidates can study full-time study in any of the Master of Science/ Master of Technology (MSc/MTech) academic mobility scholarship programs of AWaRMN in any of the Higher Education Institutions within the partnership (namely RU, UNIKIN, FUTMINNA, MU, and ENSH). AWaRMN funding will cover tuition fees, research cost, subsistence allowance, flight ticket and visa costs, and health insurance.
