EPIC-N, in partnership with the UN Environment’s Global Adaptation Network and START, offer a learning workshop on increasing climate-resilience and sustainability in Asian countries. The workshop aims to strengthen capacities for adaptation and resilience by forming key partnerships between city officials and local universities. The learning process requires pairs of candidates (at least one person from a local university and at least one person from a local municipal/city government within the same area). Television for the Environment (tve) seeks entries for the Global Sustainability Awards (GSFA). The tve Global Sustainability Film Awards recognizes outstanding films that inspire audiences with real-world solutions for a more sustainable future. Films need to address a relevant sustainable development goal and cogently explain its importance or show a relevant solution. To be eligible for GSFA 2020 all entered films must be made between the period July 2018 and July 2020. The competition is open to any company, organization or individual in any country. SNV Netherlands invites solar and stove distributors to submit their expression of interest (EOI) for partnership towards promoting solar products and clean cooking solutions in Kenya. Proposed projects have to target refugee camps in order to promote stoves and small scale solar solutions for social institutions in the refugee set-up. U.S. Agency for International Development — Emergency and Development Food and Nutrition Security Activities
The IDEAL Small Grants Program provides funding to existing projects with the aim to identify and address knowledge and capacity gaps in food and nutrition security programs around the world. The Applied Research Award (ARA) consists of Micro Grants funded up to $300 thousand for up to 12 months of implementation. Projects should focus on the development of tools or conduct topic-specific learning events. Applicants may be U.S. and non-U.S. NGOs, for-profit organizations, or institutions of higher education. Filmmakers Without Borders — Support for Independent Filmmakers
Filmmakers Without Borders seeks applications for its Filmmaking Grants to support independent filmmakers around the world via grants and other funding initiatives. Supported projects include narrative films, documentary films, and new media projects that align with themes of social justice, empowerment, and climate change. Grants are available for all of the following stages of production: Development (up to US$1,000); Production (up to US$5,000); Post-production: (up to US$2,500); and Film Festival Applications (up to US$750). The Louis Malassis International Scientific Prize for Agriculture and Food recognizes contributions in research, development, and capacity building in the North, South, or the Mediterranean Region to sustainably improve food and agricultural systems while addressing food security and poverty reduction. The Prize will be awarded in three categories: distinguished scientist; promising young scientist; and outstanding career in agricultural development. The winner of each category will be awarded €20 thousand. LandSense — Data-driven Solutions for Environmental Monitoring
The LandSense Challenge targets individuals, web-entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs with innovative IT solutions for environmental monitoring. The IT solutions need to address one of the three LandSense domains: (1) Urban Landscape Dynamics; (2) Agricultural Land Use; or (3) Forest & Habitat Monitoring. Adaptation Fund — Readiness Grants
The Adaptation Fund announces that small grants are available under the Climate Finance Readiness Programme. South-South Cooperation grants are intended to increase peer-to-peer support among accredited National Implementing Entities (NIEs) and those seeking accreditation. Project Formulation Grants (up to a maximum of US$50 thousand) help build the capacity of NIEs in project preparation and design. Technical Assistance Grants are aimed at strengthening the capacity of NIEs in the areas of environmental, social, and gender risk management. World Wildlife Fund U.S. — Professional Development Grants
WWF-US offers Professional Development Grants (PDGs) to help mid-career conservationists pursue non-degree training to upgrade their knowledge and skills. These trainings can include short courses, certificate trainings, or conferences among other training opportunities. Mid-career conservation professionals from select WWF-US priority countries (listed in the announcement) must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for a grant.
