The Canon Foundation invites applications for its Japan-Africa Exchange Program to support postgraduate scholars conducting research in African studies. The fellowship enables researchers based in African institutions to do research in Japan, and researchers based in Japanese institutions to do research in Africa. The program funds research visits lasting from a minimum of six to eight weeks up to a maximum of one year, with the option to split the time spent abroad. The American Association for the Advancement of University Women (AAAUW) provides support for women pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the USA who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Preference is given to women who show prior commitment to the advancement of women and girls through civic, community, or professional work. Royal Entomological Society — Insect Photography Competition
The Royal Entomological Society Insect Photography competition is open to all amateur photographers. Photographs entered for the Competition should feature an insect (or group of insects) occurring naturally in the situation in which it is photographed. The subject can be of any life stage, from egg through nymph, larva, or pupa to adult, and can be an insect from anywhere in the world. Prizes range from £250 to £750. Conservation, Food and Health Foundation — Local Project Support
The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation supports special projects and programs in the areas of conservation, food, and health in low- and lower-middle-income countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. The foundation supports projects that demonstrate local leadership; develop the capacity of local organizations; and address a particular problem or question in the field. Eligibility extends to NGOs, community-based organizations, and academic institutions. There is no maximum grant size. Most grants will fall in the US$25 thousand to US$50 thousand per year range. The Sony World Photography Awards, one of the world’s leading photography competitions, recognizes the best single images from across 10 diverse categories, including ‘Landscape’ and ‘Natural World & Wildlife’. The competition is free to enter and open to photographers worldwide, with specific categories tailored to professional series, standalone single images, students, and youth under 19 years-old. South Pole offers landowners, community groups, conservation organizations, and other groups the opportunity to develop their own nature-based climate action projects. South Pole seeks conservation and restoration projects in forestry and land use that protect wildlife, empower communities, and create sustainable economies, as well as large-scale nature-based solutions for a post-COVID green recovery. Ecosystem protection projects and restoration projects must focus on creating or protecting the habitat of endangered species. Terraformation — Forest Accelerator Program
Terraformation accepts applications for the Seed to Carbon Forest Accelerator, a biodiversity-focused, carbon-funded forest accelerator program. The program aims to foster thriving forest communities that preserve biodiversity while increasing the global forest carbon supply. The Accelerator is open to forest creation and restoration teams of all types from around the world. Participants will benefit from expert training, information on creating and registering carbon projects, and a free feasibility study to assess their project and its ability to grow into a full-scale carbon project. The Global Fund for Community Foundation (GFCF) accepts concept notes aimed at strengthening and supporting community philanthropy approaches.
