Village Capital — Ecosystem Restoration

Village Capital invites applications for the “Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration: LatAm 2023” accelerator. The  program addresses entrepreneurs championing forest restoration, restoration of aquatic production ecosystems and rewilding throughout Latin America. Participants will receive mentorship and access to an investment analyst. Eligibility extends to (for-profit) startups building locally viable ecosystem restoration solutions. Earth Journalism Network — Oceanic Crime and Ecoviolence

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks to support investigations that result in increased reporting about deep blue sea crimes, for example, overfishing, illegal fishing, or transnational violence. EJN can award up to €4000 thousand per investigative project. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with professional reporting experience. European Space Agency — Earth Observation Africa

The African Research Fellowship (ARF) program aims at empowering African Researchers (PhD or Master degree) to carry out Earth Observation R&D activities. Candidates shall propose a 1-year research and development proposal contributing to water resources management or food security issues in Africa. Proposals focusing on smallholder needs (e.g. farming, agricultural water use, irrigation systems, etc.) or related to coastal processes (e.g. ecosystems, coastal waters, coastal urbanization, etc.) and fisheries. The European Space Agency offers 1-year fellowships to work at the ESA-ESRIN premises in Frascati (Rome, Italy). The deadline for the submission of proposals is 31 March 2023. Know more

University of Durham — Hatfield Lioness Scholarship 2023

The University of Durham is open to applications for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship 2023. The scholarship aims to enable female students from developing countries to undertake postgraduate studies at the University of Durham. Applicants must be offered a place in one of the University’s master programs and be a national of a developing country listed in the call. Commission for Environmental Cooperation — Youth Innovation Challenge 2023

The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) invites youth to propose innovative solutions that address and respond to critical issues related to water. Residents of Canada, Mexico and the United States (and its territories) aged 18-30 are eligible to submit science, technology and business innovations. The winner will receive up to C$15 thousand in seed funding and mentoring from the Commission for Environmental Cooperation. Submissions are due by 03 April 2023. Youth Innovation Challenge

World Bank — PhD Scholarship for Research in Development

The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP) provides support to PhD candidates from developing countries to conduct PhD research on a development topic in a World Bank member country other than the Fellow’s home country. The funding is for a period of 6-10 months in any field of applied research that addresses poverty alleviation. The fellowship offers compensation, totaling $42,750 per fellow. Rockstart — AgriFood Program 2023

Rockstart funds and empowers purpose-driven founders scaling impactful solutions by leveraging emerging technologies and new business models that improve the food supply. Rockstart invests in early-stage startups with a focus on agritech and foodtech. It seeks solutions that restore soils and oceans to become powerhouses for CO2 capture, innovations that create value from wasted food and reduce food loss, and tools that provide consumers with better access to trustworthy, nutritious food. Nagao Natural Environment Foundation — Research Grants 2023

The NEF Research Grants support academic and scientific research that will deepen knowledge of nature conservation in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Applicants should be nationals of Asian-Pacific countries, and research projects should be carried out in their home countries. Grants are a maximum of ¥500 thousand for a maximum of two years. African Women in Agricultural Research and Development — Gender Responsive Agriculture Fellowship

The Gender Responsive Agriculture Systems Policy (GRASP) Fellowship is a career development program that targets mid-career African women. African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) seeks to grow a pool of confident and capable African women to lead policy changes to improve African smallholders’ livelihoods. The Fellowship will offer targeted leadership and mentoring training, catalytic funding, and access to networks. The Fellowship targets participants from Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda. Applicants must be affiliated with either government organizations, non-government, private sector, development, civil society, regional and sub-regional communities, or academia. WWF Nepal — Memorial Scholarships

WWF Nepal’s Memorial Scholarships assist students who wish to pursue careers in conservation. WWF Nepal offers several scholarships to conservationists and/or promising students to pursue a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the field of environment and biodiversity conservation in Nepal. The scholarship recipient will receive an equivalent of approx. US$4 thousand over a period of 4 years to cover tuition, field equipment and field tour fees, living expenses, books and supplies, and thesis research costs. The Memorial Scholarships are open to students who are citizens of Nepal, currently employed in or intend to pursue careers in nature conservation. The application deadline is 15 April 2023. Details
