U.S. Department of State — Inclusive Action for Climate Change

The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out the “Inclusive Action for Climate Change” program to promote gender equity in climate policymaking and programs in South Asia. The project will assist women-led organizations to advocate for and achieve gender equity and equality in climate change adaptation efforts, including in emergency preparedness and recovery from climate-related disasters. Awards may range to a maximum of US$1.48 million. Eligible applicants are U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society organizations, and educational institutions. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Côte d’Ivoire

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Côte d’Ivoire. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects). The average contribution is C$22 thousand to C$49 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. Climate Investment Platform — EmPower Her

EmPower Her seeks to close the financing gap for early-stage clean energy projects in least developed markets by supporting women-led organizations or organizations whose main focus is women’s empowerment. Private sector developers, NGOs, universities and research centers from least developed countries are eligible to apply. Successful project proponents receive up to US$40 thousand to accelerate the preparation of investment readiness. The pre-screening application deadline is 08 April 2022. EmPower Her

World Academy of Sciences — Gender Equity and Climate Action

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the Elsevier Foundation invite applications for project grants for Gender Equity and Climate Action. Grants are awarded to teams of 2-5 women for action-based projects which, although scientific in nature, will take them outside the lab to promote practical and tangible change under the umbrella of the “climate action” SDG in their local context. The project grant is designed to be flexible, with a total value of up to US$25 thousand. The principal applicant has to be a woman scientist, holding a PhD, living and working in a science and technology lagging country. The deadline for applications is 19 May 2022. TWAS – Elsevier

SouthSouthNorth — Just Climate Action

SouthSouthNorth (SSN) supports national and regional responses to climate change through policy and knowledge interventions, partnerships and deep collaboration. The Voices for Just Climate Action (VCA) program supports communications and capacity development projects in Kenya to ensure that underrepresented groups become advocates of innovative and inclusive climate solutions. The Alliance seeks to partner with Kenyan organizations specializing in climate change-related research and advocacy for local CSOs, focusing on women, youth, urban poor, rural communities, and marginalized groups. World Academy of Sciences — PhD Training Fellowships for Women Scientists

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) invites women scientists in the field of agriculture (and other sciences) from science and technology lagging countries to apply for the OWSD PhD Training Fellowships. Each fellow will receive a monthly allowance to cover basic living expenses, a special allowance to attend international conferences, travel expenses, medical insurance, and the opportunity to attend regional science communications workshops for up to four years. Foundation Beyond Belief — Compassionate Impact Grant

Foundation Beyond Belief (FBB) makes grants to organizations that address critical community problems through evidence-based and culturally responsible social innovations. FBB will make one grant in the amount of US$30 thousand to one organization with the goal of increasing that organization’s ability to fulfill its mission. All applicants must be non-profit organizations with 501(c)3 status but grants are often used to support international community projects. Past projects include women’s literacy in Malawi, beekeeping for sustainable livelihood in Guatemala, and mangrove management in Latin America. LOIs have to be submitted by 15 December 2021. Details

Schneider Electric — Go Green Student Competition: Greater China

Schneider Electric seeks applications for the Go Green global student competition in East Asia & Japan. Students are invited to submit solutions to real-life case challenges within energy management or ideas for sustainable energy access. Top teams will be invited to attend the Virtual Global Finals to pitch their ideas. In addition, one all-female team from the semi-finals will win the Women in Business Award.
