The U.S. Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act sponsors an annual competitive grants program to support conservation of neotropical migratory birds and their habitats in the USA, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. At least 75 percent of funding supports projects outside the USA. Grant requests have to be matched by partner contributions at no less than a 3-to-1 ratio. Eligibility to compete for funding is unrestricted. Applications should be submitted in English, but the program will accept accompanying versions of the application in Spanish and Portuguese. Audubon Naturalist Society — Small Grants for Conservation Projects
The Crowder-Messersmith Conservation Fund makes grants for local conservation projects in developing countries. The grants are intended as seed money for communities and individuals. Preference is given to projects that will benefit human, plant and animal communities of a particular habitat in an ecologically sustainable manner. Trust for Sustainable Living — International Schools Essay Competition
Every year, the essay competition focuses on a different global sustainability challenge. This year’s theme is Nature-based Solutions. Participating students are invited to submit one essay (in English) entitled “How can nature help us achieve the UN SDGs in my community?”. The Grand Prize trophy winner will receive a free international trip to a TSL Summit, including £1000 spending money. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate in the competition. University of Oxford — Postgraduate Scholarships 2024/2025
The Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme aims to support outstanding postgraduate students from developing and emerging economies for post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford, UK. Relevant areas of study include: Biodiversity Conservation Management, Earth sciences, Environment, International Wildlife Conservation Practice, Water Science, Zoology, and many others. The iF Student Design Award recognizes students and their future-oriented concepts that aim to solve a global development challenge. The best concepts earn a share of €50 thousand. German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development — Tiger Habitat Conservation Program
The Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme (ITHCP), supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) promotes and supports tiger conservation while considering the needs of local communities. Project grant size can vary from a minimum of € 0.5 million to a maximum of € 2 million. In addition to the six Tiger Range Countries, namely India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Indonesia, Cambodia and Thailand are also eligible. In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must be a local or an international non-governmental organization, civil society organization, or government authority. The International Marine Animal Trainers Association (IMATA) provides financial support for non-profit organization projects which focus on conservation-oriented issues that serve marine mammal science through training, public display, research, husbandry, conservation, and education. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Conservation of Sea Turtles 2024
The U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) requests proposals that seek to improve the recovery and conservation of sea turtle populations. The majority of projects will take place in the Western Hemisphere: leatherbacks and loggerheads in the Northwest Atlantic, and leatherbacks and hawksbills in the Eastern Pacific. In 2024, the NFWF Sea Turtles Program will also award support to permitted U.S. organizations in providing sea turtle stranding response and/or rehabilitation in the United States and U.S. Territories. The RFP will award up to US$1 million, however, the majority of awards will fall in the range of US$50 thousand to US$250 thousand. A minimum of a 1:1 match of cash and/or in-kind services is required. Amphibian Ark — Conservation Grants 2024
Amphibian Ark offers a wide variety of conservation grants for amphibian research and conservation. Start-up grants are one-time grants of US$5 thousand to help newly-launched projects get started at the very beginning. Start-up grant extensions of US$3 thousand provide continued support for AArk seed or start-up grant projects. Workshop grants of up to US$750 are available to attend conservation-related workshops. Mentorship grants of up to US$1500 are available to organizations which have previously received an AArk seed or start-up grant. Emergency grants offer limited funding to past recipients of AArk grants for emergency situations such as emergency rescue of wild populations facing imminent threat of extinction. Projects should work with species in their range countries, involve range-country biologists, conform to biosecurity standards, and observe other guidelines explained on the website.
