Inter-American Development Bank — Boosting Water Sector Innovation

The Inter-American Development Bank launches the Aquacerta Challenge. The challenge supports innovative solutions from the private sector that can be adopted by service providers in Latin America and the Caribbean to ensure safely managed drinking water and the resilience of water systems. Applicants can apply for contingent recovery financing from US$300 thousand to a maximum of US$500 thousand each. However, applicants should be able to contribute at least 50% in counterpart funds. Eligibility extends to legally established entities from the private sector such as startups, small and medium enterprises, and social businesses. The application deadline is 31 May 2024. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Nigeria

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives supports small-scale, high-impact projects in Nigeria. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as water management. The average contribution is C$30 thousand to C$60 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. International Water Association — The Climate Smart Utilities Recognition Program

The International Water Association (IWA) launches the third edition of the IWA Climate Smart Utilities Recognition Program. The program recognizes ambitious and innovative efforts towards a low-carbon water and sanitation sector by utilities that are embracing the need to adapt to and mitigate climate change. Winners will receive an invitation (costs covered) to the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Toronto, Canada (August 2024). The application deadline is 20 May 2024. Details

The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation — Prize for Engineering Innovations

The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering accepts nominations of ground-breaking innovations in engineering from all around the world which have been of benefit to humanity. In the scope of the Terra Viva Grants Directory, this may include innovations in the fields of sustainable energy, water management and/or agriculture. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Mexico

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Mexico. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water management, and other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$55 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations. The deadline for submission is 21 April 2024. UK Government — Funding Local Research Tanzania

The DEEP Challenge Fund awards small and medium grants to local researchers working on national poverty reduction in Tanzania. The Fund aims to encourage national researchers and analysts to develop and deliver small and medium research projects that would help to generate insights and improve national strategy, policy affecting poverty, and vulnerability to poverty. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, water management, and other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$24 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations. Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research — AgriTech Innovation Challenge Egypt

CGIAR seeks scientists and entrepreneurs working on agri-tech solutions for a more sustainable, efficient, and climate-resilient agricultural system in Egypt. The AgriTech4Egypt Innovation Challenge is designed specifically for early-stage agri-tech ventures. Participants will receive support to build the foundations of an agri-tech venture for scalable growth in Egypt. The challenge is open to national and international innovation teams. IBM — Resilient Cities

The IBM Sustainability Accelerator supports communities vulnerable to environmental challenges. Nonprofit and governmental organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for tech-driven projects advancing resilient cities. UN Global Compact — SDG Pioneers

UN Global Compact invites nominations and applications to the 2024 SDG Pioneer program. SDG Pioneer celebrates individuals and businesses behind sustainability in global and local markets. UN Global Compact encourages professionals working at any level of a UN Global Compact-participating company who are leveraging a principles-based approach to set ambitious, scalable, and impactful Sustainable Development Goal targets to apply.
