The Women for Africa Foundation has launched the 9th Edition of its “Science by Women” program. The program aims to promote African women’s leadership in scientific research and technology transfer and to foster the capacity of the research centers in their home countries. Thematic areas include sustainable agriculture and food security, water, energy and climate change; and several others. Each Spanish Centre of Excellence will host one senior woman researcher for a six-month fellowship. Eligibility to apply extends to women who are nationals of any African country, and who have a PhD, with at least three years of postdoctoral experience. The East-West Center (EWC) provides fellowships for scholars, researchers, or journalists from the Indo-Pacific Region, including the United States, to undertake research or other projects on topics related to environmental issues and geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific region. Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean — Shipboard Fellowship 2024
The Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO) offers several shipboard fellowship opportunities. This fellowship program aims to promote training and capacity building leading towards a global observation scheme for the oceans. Eligibility extends to early career scientists, technicians, PhD and MSc students, and Post-doctoral Fellows involved in oceanographic work at centers in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. PEMSEA — East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum
The East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum (April 2024) aims to bring together young leaders across the East Asian Seas region to have a deeper understanding of the marine environment, and impacts of climate change. Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply: Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Vietnam. Applicants must be 21 to 35 years old and have, at least, one year exposure or experience in marine science, marine conservation, or any related fields. Oxford University — Grants for Collaborative Research with African Research Institutions
The AfOx Catalyst Grants provide seed funding to support the development of collaborative research between researchers based in African research institutions and at the University of Oxford. Travel grants enable researchers to meet in either an African institution or Oxford. Starter Grants fund activities which aim to develop sustainable partnerships and strengthening applications for longer-term fellowships and funding. The maximum grant amount is £5000. Atlas Corps seeks NGO leaders from around the world to apply for a 12-18 month fellowship program. Fellows serve at Host Organizations working on issues that complement their expertise (including: conservation, wildlife, sustainable development, and many others). Applicants must be aged 22-35 and must have 2-10 years of relevant experience in the nonprofit/social sector. The fellowship provides a small living stipend to cover basic expenses (food, local transportation, and shared housing), international flight, and health insurance. International Union of Forest Research Organizations — Grants for Female Early-Career Scientist
The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) offers a limited number of grants of up to €5 thousand for short scientific visits for female early-career scientists affiliated with IUFRO organizations to visit a forest research organization overseas. The specific duration of the scientific visits will be dependent on the complexity of the proposed projects. Potential applicants are required to contact the potential host organization prior to applying for a grant. Together they shall develop a project proposal and work plan. Agropolis Fondation — International Mobility
The Agropolis Foundation supports foreign young scientists and senior researchers coming to France for a minimum of 4 months to work within a unit of the network. The exchange program is designed to generate proposals addressing agriculture and climate change, the sustainable use of biodiversity within an agricultural context, and responsible production and consumption. The lead proponent should be from one of the research units belonging to the Foundation’s scientific network. A maximum of €30 thousand can be requested per applicant.
