The Office of Citizen Exchanges announces an open competition to conduct a four-week U.S.-based exchange program for teenagers and adult educators. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need. Applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 17-18 youth and 2-3 adult participants from Burma. Applicants may request up to US$190 thousand in project funding. In On Africa — Training Opportunity for Young African Leaders
The African Leaders of Tomorrow (ALofT) Project is an online-based youth development programme designed to cultivate future thought leaders by empowering exceptional young Africans. The program is open to African students in any field of business, economic, political or social development (including but not limited to agriculture and other related themes). The 6-month project is structured around a web-based curriculum, delivered via an e-learning platform. The International Council for Science, in collaboration with several partner organizations, invites applications for the IRDR (Integrated Research on Disaster Risk) Young Scientists Program. The program offers young scientists (under age 40) of any nationality the opportunity to engage with a global network of professionals and practitioners. The USDA invites applications for the 2019 Borlaug Cocoa Fellowships. The program aims to provide fellows with the skills and knowledge in the production and marketing of cocoa and cocoa products. Fellows from eligible countries in West Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean work with a mentor at USDA’s Agricultural Research Service or a U.S. university for up to 12 weeks. Swedish International Development Agency — Training on Healthy Livestock and Safe Food
Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Organizations in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Tanzania, and Uganda are invited to nominate candidates for the 12-months Training Programme ‘Healthy Livestock and Safe Food’. The overall objective of this programme is to reduce poverty and vulnerability among smallholder farmers. Candidates representing government organisations, private companies or NGOs at national, regional or local level are encouraged to apply. The training will take place in Sweden. EarthCorps — International Program 2019
EarthCorps invites applications from emerging environmental leaders around the world to participate in an environmental service program in the USA. Participants from the USA and other countries take part in field projects such as tree planting, trail construction, stream restoration, and removal of invasive plants. The international Program is a 6-month learning experience for non-U.S. citizens, which takes place in Seattle, Washington, USA. Applicants should be 18-28 years of age, with a university degree in an environmental field (or equivalent work experience), and speak conversational English. International participants receive a living stipend, health insurance, and accommodations with host families. However, each participant is responsible for her/his travel to Seattle, Washington.
