UNESCO — Land Restoration Training Program
The General Assembly of African Biosphere Reserves Network invites applications for fellowships to the GRÓ Land Restoration Training Program (GRÓ LRT). The program offers six months of training focused on land restoration and sustainable land management, hosted at the Agricultural University of Iceland. The Fellowship covers tuition and other academic expenses for the fellows, travel and health insurance costs, and a stipend that covers all their living expenses. SDG Academy — Online Course: Natural Resources for Sustainable Development
SDG Academy, in partnership with edX, offers an online course on natural resources for sustainable development. In this 12-week course, participants will learn about efforts to sustainably manage extractive industry investments. Applicants who are sustainable development practitioners, such as those who work in corporate sustainability and responsibility or renewable energy, graduate students and climate change activists or are particularly encouraged to participate. Technische Universität Dresden — Masters in Tropical Forestry 2026
The MSc Course in Tropical Forestry taught at Technische Universität Dresden (TDU) in Germany qualifies students to develop sustainable forest management strategies and implement development-relevant interventions in rural and peri-urban areas. Germany’s DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) will fund a limited number of scholarships for applicants from developing countries to enroll in TDU’s 2-year master’s program. Applicants must hold a university degree in forestry, agriculture, horticulture, or other related field. Institute for Global Environmental Strategies — Satoyama Development Mechanism 2025
The IGES, the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Studies on Sustainability, and Japan’s Ministry of the Environment announce the latest round of sub-grants under the Satoyama Development Mechanism. The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) promotes the sustainable use of Socio-Ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes. Grants are up to US$20 thousand for field projects; research; collaboration activities; and capacity building and outreach that link ecosystems and community systems on a sustainable basis. Nippon Foundation — Ocean Fellowship
The United Nations–Nippon Foundation Fellowship provides government officials and other mid-level professionals from developing states with advanced training on ocean affairs and the law of the sea. The 9-month fellowship program is composed of two consecutive phases which provide fellows with advanced and customized research and training opportunities. Fellows will receive a stipend each month during their fellowship. The stipend is intended to cover the cost of lodging, boarding, and other essentials such as local transport. In addition to the stipend, fellows will be provided with a book allowance of US$100 per month. Candidates must be between the ages of 25 and 40.
