Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research — Grants for Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, and Field Days

ACIAR offers sponsorship assistance to individuals wishing to attend a conference, seminar, workshop or field day that directly benefits agricultural research for development. ACIAR also supports organisations seeking sponsorships for this same objective. The priority is for events and sponsorships in ACIAR partner countries and related to ACIAR projects. However, direct involvement in an ACIAR project is not a prerequisite to apply for funding. The application deadlines are the first Wednesday of April and the last Wednesday of October in each calendar year. Link

Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Research on Monitoring Water and Air Quality

The IUSSTF invites applications for the “Research Initiative for Real-time River Water and Air Quality Monitoring.”  This initiative aims to develop technologies for sensing, communication, and analysis of large-scale data collected from autonomous networks of perpetual or long-lived sensor nodes, followed by integration and deployment of this information for water and air quality monitoring in real-time.  Indian research groups are encouraged to collaborate with academic counterparts in the USA and/or European Union. The deadline for proposals is 10 March 2017. Link

Wildlife Conservation Network — Partnership Applications 2017

The WCN supports wildlife projects worldwide, with emphasis on Latin America, Africa, and Asia. WCN invites letters of inquiry from registered nonprofit organizations engaged in wildlife conservation or animal welfare to apply for partnerships. WCN collaborates with its partners for networking, fund raising, and organizational support. The period for letters of inquiry is 15 February 2017 through 15 March 2017. Link

The IUSSTF’s program Bioenergy – Awards for Cutting Edge Research (B- ACER) aims to nurture contacts between students and scientists from India and the USA in frontline area of biofuels and bioenergy. Opportunities are available for Indian citizens to pursue internships and fellowships at reputed U.S. scientific/technological institutions or laboratories to undertake the research work. India Department of Science and Technology — Bilateral Research Collaboration

India’s DST calls for proposals of bilateral research in thematic areas that include energy, environment, climate change, plant-based medicines, and many others — varying with each program area. Calls with application deadlines in November 2016, December 2016, and January 2017 include joint research with Australia, Israel, Italy, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Switzerland.  Link

Swedish International Development Agency — International Training Programs

Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. The programs include one on sustainable urban water and sanitation.  The invited countries are Bangladesh, Kenya, Myanmar, Tanzania, and Uganda. Candidates may be nominated by authorities, institutions, universities, NGOs, water utilities, or other private companies active in the water and sanitation sector. The application deadline is 02 December 2016.  Link

London School of Economics and Political Science, International Growth Centre — Research on Economic Growth in Developing Countries

The IGC invites proposals relevant to growth policies in developing countries. IGC’s programs are organized by countries and themes. The themes include one on energy.  The topics include improving access to and quality of energy services for households and firms; rural electrification; energy efficiency; and the effects of energy consumption on health and the environment.  Applications are open worldwide, although IGC’s particular countries of interest are Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Liberia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The next application deadline is 05 December 2016. Link

Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia

The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. There is a special early deadline on 15 December for projects that have to begin before July. The OBC also considers special and emergency applications at any time. Link

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation of Rhinos and Tigers 2017

As part of its program “Wildlife Without Borders,” the USFWS makes grants for the conservation of selected wildlife species, including rhinos and tigers. Grants are for applied research, training, conservation management, community outreach, law enforcement, decreased human-wildlife conflicts, and other activities in conservation. Eligibility extends worldwide to qualified and relevant government agencies, other organizations, multi-national secretariats, and individuals.  The program intends to make about 60 grants, ranging from US$50 thousand to US$100 thousand.  The application deadline is 02 December 2016.
