Climate Tracker seeks young researchers with media experience to explore the green transition from COVID-19 in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The aim of the research project is to help develop a clearer understanding of the region’s media coverage of this theme and will involve interviews with several journalists to identify their challenges, needs for support, and capacity building. Business Partnerships Platform — COVID-19 Recovery
The Australian Government calls for partnerships to help support COVID-19 recovery in Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines, Timor-Leste and Tonga. The program seeks projects which create social impact in the following areas: green recovery (including tourism), economic opportunities (including agriculture, renewable energy), capacity building, and digitalisation. Selected projects will receive from A$100 thousand to A$500 thousand in funding to scale a business initiative for social impact. Erbacher Foundation — Support for Rural Development 2021
The Erbacher Foundation supports rural development in subject areas that include livestock husbandry, crop production, drinking water, and environmental protection. The priority countries are India, Tanzania, and Uganda. Applications are invited from Germany charitable organizations involved in development cooperation. Applying organizations need to have partnerships with local NGOs. The German institution is responsible for project administration and coordination. EPIC-N — Workshop: Increasing Climate-Resilience and Sustainability
EPIC-N, in partnership with the UN Environment’s Global Adaptation Network and START, offer a learning workshop on increasing climate-resilience and sustainability in Asian countries. The workshop aims to strengthen capacities for adaptation and resilience by forming key partnerships between city officials and local universities. The learning process requires pairs of candidates (at least one person from a local university and at least one person from a local municipal/city government within the same area). WWF-US offers Professional Development Grants (PDGs) to help mid-career conservationists pursue non-degree training to upgrade their knowledge and skills. These trainings can include short courses, certificate trainings, or conferences among other training opportunities. Mid-career conservation professionals from select WWF-US priority countries (listed in the announcement) must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for a grant. East-West Center — Asian Development Bank: Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) provides support for Master’s degree study in Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Oceanography, and Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences (among other fields of study) at the University of Hawai‘i. The scholarship program is intended for students from developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank. After completing their studies, scholars are expected to return to their home countries to share their new knowledge to promote socio-economic development. Earth Journalism Network — Asia-Pacific Story Grants
The Earth Journalism Network makes reporting grants to support the production of in-depth stories that highlight previously untold threats to global biodiversity, or explore new conservation-based solutions in the Asia-Pacific region. Story ideas that uncover corruption, address the safety of environmental defenders, and call out state and business practices that are impacting negatively on the environment and the lives of local communities are particularly welcome. Eligibility for funding extends to journalists (online, print, television) and other expert media practitioners with a track record of reporting on environmental issues. International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis — Grant Fund for Capacity Building of Young Scientists
The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) funds research projects of young scientists in the areas of conservation of wildlife and ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific region (including South and Southeast Asia). Applicants must be less than 40 years old and work or study full-time in a university or research institution. The Project Coordinator is requested to have teaching and/or working experience at a Japanese university or research institution. The maximum grant size is ¥1,5 million per project. UK Government — Energy Catalyst: Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia
The Energy Catalyst competition seeks innovative, market-focused energy solutions for Sub-Saharan Africa and/or South Asia. Projects must encourage the development of products and services that help countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia access low carbon energy. Early stage projects (feasibility studies) may apply for up to £300 thousand, mid stage projects (industrial research) for up to £1.5 million, and late stage projects (experimental development) for up to £5 million.
