The Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) will fund up to 10 research projects with institutions in the MENA region. Innovation starting grants aim to foster collaboration between Swiss researchers from universities or research institutes in the Middle East and North Africa. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research. The maximum grant amount is CHF50 thousand. The Belmont Forum’s collaborative research action on Resilience in Rapidly Changing Arctic Systems (CRA Arctic II) is an initiative to monitor and understand the complex changes occurring in the Arctic. This call supports medium-sized research projects with 3 to 4 years duration, with a recommended budget of up to €1.5 million. Participating countries in this Arctic call are Canada, Denmark, France, Japan, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and USA. All proposals must integrate across the natural sciences and social sciences, and they should include participation by three or more of the partner countries. International Institute for Tropical Agriculture — Agricultural Research for Graduate Students in Africa
The International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) will support 30 young academics and professionals for research on youth engagement in agribusiness and rural economic activities in Africa. The research has to be carried out in the following countries: Benin, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Senegal, and Zambia. Applicants must currently be registered in PhD or masters programs in recognized universities, and may not be more than 40 years old. The program particularly invites applications from women. Clean Cooking Alliance — Field Study: Efficient Cookstoves and Fuels in Haiti
The Alliance launches a four-year clean cooking market development project in Haiti. The project aims to set the foundation for the transformation of the clean cooking market to cleaner and more efficient cookstoves and fuels in Haiti. The overall objective is to reduce the negative climate, environment, economic, and health impacts from traditional cooking practices. West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use — Research for Sustainable Development
WASCAL funds research projects that assist in developing the required human capital and decision-making tools for delivering innovative solutions in key regions that are expected to be severely affected by climate change. Global Forest Watch — Technology Fellowship 2019
Global Forest Watch (GFW) is an interactive online forest monitoring and alert system designed to empower people with the information they need to better manage and conserve forest landscapes. GFW invites applications for its Technology Fellowship. Through the program, GFW seeks innovators, journalists, conservationists, campaigners, law enforcement officers, scientists, and indigenous leaders who are committed to expanding their forest monitoring experience and sharing this knowledge. The Government of India invites research projects to apply to the Call for Joint Proposals, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological co-operation between Egypt and India.
