EuroScience — European Young Researchers’ Award 2020

The European Young Researchers’ Award (EYRA) aims to inspire early stage researchers in all research areas to incorporate a European dimension and perspective into their research. The 2020 call is open to early-career PhD and post-doctoral researchers from any nationality, who work in a European country. The award consists of a certificate, free participation (including travel) at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), and one year free EuroScience membership. Asian Waterbirds Conservation Fund — Protection of Migratory Waterbirds

Administered by WWF Hong Kong, the Asian Waterbirds Conservation Fund supports the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their wetland habitats in the East Asian – Australasian flyway. Grants are up to US$5 thousand per program or project. The application deadline is 31 October of each year. Link

IC-IMPACTS — Smart Cities

IC-IMPACTS and the Department of Science & Technology (DST) of the Government of India invite proposals for the Cyber-Physical Systems to Support Green Buildings in Smart Cities. Projects under this call should aim at developing sensors, cyber-physical interfaces and solutions for energy reduction, net zero energy, carbon neutrality, reduced water usage, water harvesting, and on-site treatment, as well as to instigate other benefits for smarter and more sustainable buildings. Canadian and Indian researchers are eligible to be funded in the collaborative research. Projects can be submitted both to IC-IMPACTS or DST by 31 May 2019. More info

ENGIE Africa Corporate Foundation — Urban Power & Clean Water Solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa

ENGIE Africa invites innovators and startups to apply for the Call for Urban Power & Clean Water Solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. The call is open to developers of new technologies and service based solutions to improve reliable access to energy and clean water in urban Sub-Saharan Africa. Selected projects will be able to test the efficiency and viability of the proposed solution in the relevant environment (Testing phase), and based on the results of the testing phase, integration within the Engie Africa business portfolio and further co-development of the project. The Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) invites applications for funding support for innovation platforms, agribusinesses and other multi-stakeholder platforms to scale agricultural technologies in Africa. ETH Zurich — World Food System Grants 2019

ETH Zurich makes competitive grants in two programs sponsored by its World Food System Center. They are: (i) Sustainability in Food Value Chains (Cooperative Research Program); and (ii) Organic Production Systems for Food Security (Mercator Research Program). Principal Investigators must be current members of the World Food System Center. Co-applicants can be from other research institutions in Switzerland or other countries. University College London — Research Grant Awards

UCL supports interdisciplinary research on themes relating to one or more of the Nahrein Network’s five aims through the Research Grant Awards program. Overarching aims of the program are related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (water and land). Two types of funding are offered: small grants (up to £30 thousand) for projects led by Iraqi researchers, or collaborations between Iraqi and UK researchers; and large grants (up to £100 thousand) for collaborations between Iraqi, Lebanese or Turkish and UK researchers. Hong Kong Bird Watching Society — Asia Conservation Fund 2019/20

The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society invites applications for the Asia Conservation Fund 2019/20. The HKBWS funds research, monitoring, education and capacity building related to bird protection in Asia.  Higher priority is given to projects which target species that occur in Hong Kong or on the East Asian and Australasian Flyway; and to projects that assist the relevant country in meeting Aichi Biodiversity Targets. The IUSSTF invites Indian Women Scientists, Engineers & Technologists to apply for the “Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM” (2nd Batch) to undertake international collaborative research in the USA. Proposed thematic areas of work include agricultural sciences, life sciences and seven others. Eligibility extends to Indian women (aged 21-35 years) currently pursuing Ph.D. degree.
