AQUAEXCEL2020 — Access to Aquaculture Infrastructures
The AQUAEXCEL2020 project invites proposals from European research groups for scientific research that utilizes the aquaculture experimental facilities of any of their participating aquaculture research infrastructures. The transnational access program offers access to facilities and expertise not available in the applicants’ own country. Interested researchers can propose projects that involve visits to the chosen research infrastructure for periods of up to three months. Associated travel and subsistence expenses will be paid for. JPI Oceans — Aquatic Pollutants Joint Transnational Call
The Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) on Water, Oceans and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) announces a call for research and innovation projects on risks posed to human health and the environment by pollutants and pathogens present in water resources. A total of €22.6 million has been allocated for this call. There is no limit of total budget for proposals. Each consortium must be composed of eligible independent entities from a minimum of three different EU Member States or H2020 Associated countries (listed in the announcement). Tropical Biology Association — Field Course for Early-Career Scientists
The Tropical Biology Association (TBA) sponsors field courses in tropical biology at the postgraduate level. TBA currently invites applications for a field course in Kenya (in July/August 2020). The course will take place at Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia County and offer early-career researchers the opportunity for hands on savanna field research. Nordic Africa Institute — Grants for Guest Researchers from Africa 2020
The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) provides funding to social science researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa for short-term collaborative assignments at the NAI in Uppsala, Sweden. Female researchers are especially encouraged to apply. The scholarship includes travel (economy class), accommodation, a subsistence allowance of SEK400 per day plus an installation grant of SEK2,500. The thematic research programs include the topics of economic growth, poverty alleviation, sustainable livelihoods, climate change, and sustainable development, among others. U.S. Department of Agriculture — Borlaug Fellowships in Agricultural Science and Technology
The Borlaug Fellowship Program supports short-term research projects to improve agricultural productivity, economic development, and food security in over developing countries. The program offers training and collaborative opportunities for agricultural research, international agricultural economics, leadership, and policy. The program lists the eligible countries, and the research priorities for each of them. Fellows work one-on-one with a U.S. mentor who will coordinate the training program. After completion of the 6 months fellowship, the mentor will visit the fellow’s home institution to continue collaboration. USDA will select U.S. host institutions and mentors for each fellow.
