Missouri Botanical Garden — Fellowships for Visiting Researchers 2020

The Center for Conservation and Sustainable Development at the Missouri Botanical Garden offers short-term fellowships for professionals in conservation biology, ecology, botany, and related fields. The fellowships include small grants for travel and support costs for professional visits at the Missouri Botanical Garden lasting 4-12 weeks, varying with each fellowship program. Fulbright Scholar Program — Core Program for U.S. Faculty and Professionals 2021-2022

The Fulbright Scholar Program invites applications from U.S. scholars for research, teaching, and creative arts in an international context. Eligibility criteria include U.S. citizenship and a PhD or equivalent professional degree. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Global Partnerships Seedcorn Fund 2020

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) invites proposals to its Global Partnerships Seedcorn Fund 2020 call. The Fund allows UK environmental science researchers to forge new partnerships and networks with international researchers from developing countries. Activities under this grant scheme may include, but are not limited to, programs of exchange visits, scoping studies, proof of concept studies and workshops. Tropical Biology Association — Field Course for Early-Career Scientists

The Tropical Biology Association (TBA) sponsors field courses in tropical biology at the postgraduate level. TBA currently invites applications for a field course in Kenya (in July/August 2020). The course will take place at Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia County and offer early-career researchers the opportunity for hands on savanna field research. Participants will gain experience in field research, project design, and conservation case studies. Full or partial scholarships are available to African applicants. Nordic Africa Institute — Grants for Guest Researchers from Africa 2020

The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) provides funding to social science researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa for short-term collaborative assignments at the NAI in Uppsala, Sweden. Female researchers are especially encouraged to apply. The scholarship includes travel (economy class), accommodation, a subsistence allowance of SEK400 per day plus an installation grant of SEK2,500. The thematic research programs include the topics of economic growth, poverty alleviation, sustainable livelihoods, climate change, and sustainable development, among others. Government of India and Uzbekistan — Indo-Uzbek Joint Research Program

The Government of Uzbekistan and the Government of India invite proposals for joint research projects in the following scientific areas (relevant to TVG): agriculture and food science technology; energy, water, climate and natural resources; among others. U.S. Department of Agriculture — Borlaug Fellowships in Agricultural Science and Technology

The Borlaug Fellowship Program supports short-term research projects to improve agricultural productivity, economic development, and food security in over developing countries. The program offers training and collaborative opportunities for agricultural research, international agricultural economics, leadership, and policy. The program lists the eligible countries, and the research priorities for each of them. Fellows work one-on-one with a U.S. mentor who will coordinate the training program. After completion of the 6 months fellowship, the mentor will visit the fellow’s home institution to continue collaboration. USDA will select U.S. host institutions and mentors for each fellow. U.S. Department of Agriculture — Scientific Cooperation Research Program

The Scientific Cooperation Research Program supports applied research and education projects between U.S. researchers and foreign scientists that create practical solutions to challenges faced by small farmers. Proposed solutions should address issues including agricultural trade and market access, animal and plant health, biotechnology, food safety and security, and sustainable natural resource management. The program supports up to 10 collaborative research programs with up to US$50 thousand. Eligibility extends to US public and private institutions of higher education. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Impact of Plastic Pollution on Marine Ecosystems

UK’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF) invite proposals for collaborative research projects to understand the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems in Southeast Asia. Applicants may request up to S$1.25 million from NRF and up to £700 thousand from NERC. Applications are sought from teams comprising researchers from Singapore, the UK and low- and middle-income countries in Southeast Asia. EEP Africa — Early Stage Clean Energy Projects

EEP Africa invites innovative project developers to submit applications for early stage clean energy projects in active development phase in Southern and East Africa. Applicants can apply for grants between €200 thousand and €500 thousand (minimum required co-financing is 30%). Eligibility extends to companies, start-ups and social enterprises with early-stage projects from Botswana, Burundi, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
