The Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) Visiting Research Fellow Program brings overseas researchers to the Institute for periods of two to six months to engage in research collaboration. Each visiting fellow must work with a RIHN host researcher who acts as the main point of contact with the Institute. Applicants must have a PhD and be employed in an overseas research institute. HawkWatch International — Global Raptor Research & Conservation Grant
The Global Raptor Research & Conservation Grant invests in projects led by citizens of developing countries with the aim of increasing diversity and inclusivity in conservation while building local capacity. Projects must be located in high-priority countries for raptor research and conservation (mainly Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, or Southeast Asia), focus on a single species of raptor, and be led by an applicant who is associated with a registered NGO and/or university in the country where the project will take place. The Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust makes grants to charities working in the area of wildlife and environmental conservation in the UK and internationally. The Australia and Pacific Science Foundation (APSF) makes research grants in ecology, biodiversity, and life sciences in Australia and the Southwest Pacific region. World Parrot Trust and Natural Encounters Conservation Fund — Parrot Conservation Grants Program 2025
The Parrot Conservation Grants Program invites applications. The purpose of this funding is to implement conservation projects for parrots currently threatened with global extinction. Priority will be given to projects directed towards conservation of threatened parrot species in the wild. Research projects with direct conservation application will also be considered. African Women in Agricultural Research and Development — African Women in Data Science Leadership Program
African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) invites applications from high-potential African women under 35 in selected Sub-Saharan countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Zambia). Up to 40 participants will be chosen for a nine-month, non-residential virtual program offering leadership training, mentoring, communication and personal branding skills, and gender-integration capacity. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Biodiversity Information for Development: Sub-Saharan Africa
The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) invites proposals for project funding from Sub-Saharan Africa under the “Biodiversity Information for Development” program. GBIF offers support for four types of projects: (1) Institutional-level biodiversity data mobilization to strengthen institutional capacity and mobilize policy-relevant biodiversity data (maximum funding: €30 thousand); and (2) Multi-institutional biodiversity data mobilization to build or strengthen collaborations between institutions to mobilize data for research and policy addressing national or regional priorities (maximum funding: €60 thousand. Wild Animal Initiative — Seed Grants Program
Wild Animal Initiative provides small amounts of funding to facilitate projects that will test promising new techniques or approaches, incorporate welfare assessments into ecological research and management, or adapt animal welfare science approaches for wild contexts. Seed Grants are ideal for early-career scientists or more established principal investigators who have no previous experience with wild animal welfare research. Grant size varies from US$2 thousand to US$10 thousand. The small grants program is open to anyone, although Wild Animal Initiative is especially interested in supporting postdocs and PhD students pursuing a long-term research career in the field of wild animal welfare, and researchers who have not previously included welfare considerations in their work.
