Sea Pact is a consortium of seafood companies to support continuous improvements of fisheries and aquaculture in an international context. Sea Pact accepts applications from non-profit and for-profit organizations. Past grant recipients include conservation organizations, marine research organizations, development NGOs, and others. Global Development Network — Global Development Awards Competition 2024
The Global Development Awards Competition is open for applications. The awards recognize excellence in policy-oriented research, support research capacity development of researchers in low and middle-income countries, and fund innovative social development projects benefiting marginalized groups in the developing world. The competition will feature two categories: a competitive research grant program (worth US$30 thousand) that funds outstanding research proposals that address development issues in low and middle-income countries and a competitive grant program (worth US$45 thousand and US$135 thousand) that supports non-profit Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in low or lower-middle-income countries. The Global Development Network will host open sessions for prospective applicants to provide them with additional information and answer their questions about the application process. Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation — Pelagos Initiative
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (PA2F) funds and promotes activities for the protection, conservation, and awareness of the Pelagos Sanctuary with a specific focus on biodiversity conservation, and climate action. PA2F encourages submissions of projects that may include knowledge acquisition, conservation, and restoration measures, lobbying/advocacy, or awareness-raising projects. The East-West Center (EWC) provides fellowships for scholars, researchers, or journalists from the Indo-Pacific Region, including the United States, to undertake research or other projects on topics related to environmental issues and geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific region. American Society of Primatologists — Conservation Grants 2024
The American Society of Primatologists (ASP) supports students and young researchers from habitat countries who are engaged in primate conservation. Grant proposals are invited for either captive or wild primate-oriented research projects. Applications for start-up funds, supplementary funding for students, and innovations in animal care and research technology are welcome. Award amounts range from US$500 to US$1500. Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research — SFIAR Award 2024
SFIAR annually awards a prize to scientists working at or in association with a Swiss institution in agricultural research for development. For 2024, the best team project will be awarded CHF10 thousand, and the best masters thesis CHF1 thousand. World Academy of Sciences — Biotechnology Research Fellowships in India
The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), in partnership with India’s Department of Biotechnology, offers a fellowship program for scholars from developing countries to pursue research towards a PhD in biotechnology. The TWAS-DBT postgraduate fellowships are tenable at key biotechnology research institutions in India for a period of up to 5 years. Applicants should not be older than age 35. World Bank — PhD Scholarship for Research in Development
The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP) provides support to PhD candidates from developing countries to conduct PhD research on a development topic in a World Bank member country other than the Fellow’s home country. The funding is for 6-10 months in any field of applied research that addresses poverty alleviation. The fellowship offers compensation, totaling $42,750 per fellow. Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World — Early-Career Fellowship
The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) supports female scientists in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) with doctoral fellowships in the natural sciences. The early-career fellowships are for the pursuit of a doctoral degree at a host institution in a developing country that is not the applicant’s home country. The Fellowship is for two years and provides up to US$50 thousand. Applicants should be qualified young women science graduates (generally below 40 years of age), who have an M.Sc. degree or outstanding B.Sc. in the natural sciences.
