iF International Forum Design GmbH — Student Design Award

The iF Student Design Award recognizes students and their future-oriented concepts that aim to solve a global development challenge. The best concepts earn a share of €50 thousand. All winners will be honored with a two-day event in Istanbul. Students and recent graduates of all design-related courses and programs are welcome to register their concepts. Yale University — Young Global Scholars Program

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers two-week academic summer programs for high school students from all around the world. The program offers four interdisciplinary sessions on campus at Yale (USA), including sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. YYGS offers the opportunity for students to apply for need-based financial aid. Furthermore, YYGS will waive the application fee if it constitutes a significant financial burden for the student’s family. The application deadline is 04 January 2024. Acumen Fund — Regional Fellows in Malaysia

The Acumen Fund seeks to harness the power of social innovation to create solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. The Fund administers regional programs in different world regions. In each region, 20 fellows are selected for a leadership development program of five one-week seminars while remaining in their jobs. Acumen covers all program expenses related to travel and accommodations, but it does not offer scholarships, stipends, or other funding. Past fellows have included several in smallholder agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, fair trade, and other subject areas. SEED — Replicator Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Uganda

The SEED Replicator program offers incubation workshops to identify opportunities for enterprise creation and to guide aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners looking for partnerships to build an eco-inclusive business model. Successful alumni can apply for a SEED Grant which pays for your immediate necessary activities, measures or machinery required to establish the new enterprise. SEED Replicator Program currently invites applications from entrepreneurs in Uganda. Participation is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. United States Agency for International Development — Oceans Plastics

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the “Oceans Plastics – Solid Waste Management Activity.” The activity’s goal is to reduce waste in municipalities leading to cleaner oceans in the Dominican Republic. USAID intends to provide US$15 million in total funding over a five year period. Eligibility is not restricted. The closing date for applications is 18 September 2023. Link

Conrad Foundation — Spirit of Innovation Challenge 2023-2024

The Spirit of Innovation Challenge is a worldwide competition for youth ages 13-18 to create commercially viable products or services to address issues of global sustainability. Categories include “Energy and Environment”. Ideas are submitted by student teams, which can be international, if desired. There is a fee for team registration (discounted rates may apply for qualified title one schools or special circumstances). The winning teams are offered seed money to continue the development of their ideas. The application deadline for the activation stage (phase 1) is 03 November 2023. Link to the challenge

Wilson Center — International Fellowship Program

The Woodrow Wilson Center offers a 9-month residential fellowship to scholars, practitioners, journalists and public intellectuals. Fellows conduct research in their areas of interest, while interacting with policymakers in Washington and Wilson Center staff and other scholars in residence. The Center accepts proposals that address key challenges confronting the United States and the world. The Center offers a stipend of US$90 thousand. Embassy of France to the Philippines — Support for local NGOs

The Embassy of France supports local organizations and calls for the submission of project proposals. The project can be related to environmental issues or other issues, as long as they benefit disadvantaged communities or social groups. This year, two grants of PHP300 thousand and PHP100 thousand will be awarded. Eligibility extends to locally recognized organizations, associated with the activities collectively implemented by the network of Franco-Philippine’s associations. Earth Company — Impact Hero 2024

Each year, Earth Company selects one Impact Hero that has the potential to transform the future of developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Impact Heroes are visionary leaders that tackle some of the most pressing social and environmental challenges and make transformative changes to the communities they serve. Earth Company provides 3 years of support through leadership coaching, fundraising, marketing and business development. Eligibility extends to everybody and all forms of organizations. Lipman Family Prize — Funding for Social Change

Each year, the Lipman Family Prize awards cash to three social impact organizations – US$250 thousand for the winning organization and US$125 thousand for each of the two other honorees. The award recognizes and amplifies the work of organizations devoted to positive social impact and creating sustainable solutions to significant social and economic challenges. Past winners include projects in the field of improved sanitation, energy innovations, and micro-forestry.
