The KBF Africa Prize is awarded to Africans or African organizations who are making an outstanding contribution to development in Africa. There are no restrictions as to the chosen themes. The Selection Committee favors community approaches that deal with actual and current challenges in Africa. The winners receive financial support of up to €250 thousand. King Baudouin Foundation — Access to Water
The King Baudouin Foundation supports projects of Belgian organizations working in countries in the southern hemisphere to improve access to water. The Elisabeth and Amélie Fund supports initiatives in Africa, Latin America, and Asia to improve local community access to water sustainably. The 2025 call focuses on school sanitation projects with a hygiene education component. The foundation provides funding of up to €50 thousand. Latin America Regional Fund for Agricultural Technologies — Call for Proposals 2025
The Latin America Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology – Fondo Regional de Tecnología Agropecuaria (FONTAGRO) – calls for innovations for the sustainable increase of agricultural productivity in Latin America and the Caribbean in the context of climate change. FONTAGRO member countries are Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Proposals are accepted from multi-country consortia of public and private organizations at national, regional, and international levels. Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust — Grants for Research and Training 2025
The Trust makes grants for education and research in ornamental horticulture, primarily in North America, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Australia. Projects may focus on research in ornamental horticulture, creation and maintenance of gardens accessible to the public for educational purposes, educational activities that further ornamental horticulture, and environmentally responsible cultivation of plants which have ornamental horticultural value. Applicants include botanical gardens, arboreta, universities, and other nonprofit charitable organizations. Grants are up to US$25 thousand. BBVA Foundation — Awards in Frontiers of Knowledge, Nominations 2025
The BBVA Foundation annually makes awards to recognize innovative and fundamental advances in science, culture, and collaboration. Thematic areas include ecology and conservation biology; climate change; and development cooperation (among others). In each prize category, BBVA awards €400 thousand plus a diploma and commemorative artwork. The awards are open to individuals and organizations of any nationality. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Sri Lanka
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Sri Lanka. CFLI provides funding to projects that focus on environment and climate action, as well as on water and/or plastic waste management. United Nations Global Marketplace — Climate Finance Transparency
The United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM) launches the development and delivery of a Climate Finance Transparency Program. Partners are expected to provide capacity building to developing countries on climate finance transparency so that they can use what they have learnt to advance the implementation of their climate policies and actions. Financing for this activity ranges from US$40 thousand to US$60 thousand. Roger Williams Park Zoo — Danforth Conservation Grants
The Sophie Danforth Conservation Biology Fund makes grants of up to US$1 thousand to protect threatened wildlife and habitats worldwide. Priority is for projects that demonstrate a multi-disciplinary approach to ecosystem conservation, and that involve in-country collaborators. Projects must directly affect biological conservation.
