Youth Climate Justice Fund — Funding for Young Climate Leaders

The Youth Climate Justice Fund seeks applications to support climate justice young leaders with trust-based funding, resources, and youth-to-youth capacity development. Groups can apply for a grant of up to US$10 thousand, which can be used for a period of 12 months. Applying networks or collectives have to be led by young people aged 35 and under and be based in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, or Central and Eastern Europe. Water and Energy for Food — Regional Innovations MENA

Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) seeks business owners and entrepreneurs in the Middle East and Northern Africa region who have innovative water-food, energy-food, and water-energy-food solutions. Individual awards for innovators are expected to range from US$25 thousand to US$250 thousand, depending on the type of funding requested. The call is open to mid- to late-stage enterprises, nonprofits with a for-profit program, and other organizations based in the Middle East and North Africa. Enabel — Prize for Women Entrepreneurs

The Awa Prize highlights women entrepreneurs from Belgian development cooperation countries and their projects. The prize aims to promote women entrepreneurs in their local community and strengthen them in their entrepreneurial success. The winner receives €50 thousand in support of their enterprise and one week in Belgium. Participating countries for the 2023 edition: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, DRC, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda. Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research — Women’s Collective Action in Agri-food Systems

The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) aims to support a research project aimed at generating evidence on women’s collective action in agri-food systems from MENA and South Asia. One grant of a maximum of US$150 thousand will be awarded. Applications must be led by a CGIAR Center. The deadline for submissions is 02 August 2023. Details

Rome MED Dialogues — Youth-led Policy Lab

The  Youth Policy Lab supports youth-led climate solutions in the Mediterranean by showcasing innovative ideas globally. Selected participants will draft actionable policies shared with high-level policymakers at the 2023 Rome MED Dialogues and potentially presented at the UN Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP28). Eligibility to participate extends to young experts, scholars, and students from North Africa, Middle East, or Europe. Applications are open until 01 September 2023. Youth-led Policy Lab

Ornithological Society of the Middle East — Trevor Poyser Species Conservation Fund

The Ornithological Society of the Middle East (OSME) makes grants to support bird research in the Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asia. The Trevor Poyser Species Conservation Fund supports research projects that lead to clear conservation benefits for a globally threatened species that occurs within the OSME region. Climate Investment Funds — Youth Fellowship

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) supports young climate professionals with a career-focused fellowship program. The CIF Youth Fellowship is a professional capacity-building program focused on providing hands-on experience to young leaders in global climate action. CIF Youth Fellows will work with Multilateral Development Banks on real-world projects in areas related to nature-based solutions, clean energy, adaptation and climate resilience, energy access, and gender and social inclusion. Candidates must be between 18-28 years and reside in Egypt, Tunisia, Kenya, India, Jamaica, or Thailand. The application deadline is 07 July 2023. CIF Youth Fellowship

Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — MENA Scholarships

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Scholarship Program offers scholarships to professionals from ten MENA countries for short courses of two to twelve weeks in the Netherlands. Subject areas include agriculture, environment, and many others. NUFFIC supports professionals up to age 45 who are nationals of and working in one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia. (Note: MSP is not currently open to professionals applying from Sudan.) Potentially interested individuals review the courses and dates offered by the participating Dutch higher education institutions, and information about how to apply. Horizon2020 — Venture Showcase Africa

The African European Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB) program is an EU/Horizon2020-funded initiative, aiming to accelerate the growth of African startups with disruptive solutions in Climate Smart Agriculture, Smart Cities, Digital Trade or Clean Tech. Companies get visibility with investors throughout the selection and interview process. Finalists receive mentorship and technical advice directly from the angel investors. Eligibility extends to for-profit companies with a product or service available on the market. At least one of the founders needs to have an African nationality from Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, or Uganda. U.S. Department of State — Women in Agriculture

The U.S. Government seeks to support projects that secure economic security of women in agriculture in Tunisia. Funds are available to support projects that empower previously marginalized women working in agricultural cooperatives to use innovative technical and entrepreneurial approaches to mitigate the impacts of climate change, increase profitability, and protect against food insecurity. The estimated award is US$1.5 million per year over the course of 3 years. Eligible applicants include U.S. or foreign non-profit organizations; institutions of higher education; international organizations; and small businesses.
