National Geographic Society — Slingshot Challenge

The National Geographic Society seeks applications for its Slingshot Challenge. The challenge invites 13–18-year-olds to submit a 1-minute video describing their idea for solving environmental issues. Video submissions must be in English or Spanish. Subtitles are not required but are allowed. National Geographic will select a small number of submissions to receive up to US$10 thousand in funding. Submissions are due by 06 February 2026. Earth Journalism Network — Communicators’ Workshop

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites communicators to join a media workshop on renewable energy in Mumbai (October 2025). The call is open to communicators based in India from print, online, radio and television outlets. Participants will have the opportunity to go on a field trip and interact with members of a coastal community to understand the situation firsthand. Journalism Fund — Development Grants for Environmental Journalism

The Development Grants for Environmental Journalism supports enabling activities and supporting services for environmental investigative journalism as a whole. The program provides funding to project ideas from organizations and institutions for training and professional development programs. Eligible proposals entail enabling activities and supporting services for environmental investigative journalism in Europe. The total available amount to be distributed among all supported projects will be around €115 thousand. The program is open to legal entities with demonstrable expertise in investigative journalism. Forward Fooding — FoodTech 500

FoodTech 500 showcases the latest developments from international startup and scaleup companies across the food supply chain. FoodTech companies gain recognition in the AgriFoodTech industry and get the opportunity to be a speaker or exhibitor at international gatherings, conferences, and meetups. Pulitzer Center — Local Letters for Global Change

Local Letters for Global Change is a Pulitzer Center writing contest for students. Students are encouraged to write a letter to a local elected representative that explains the global issue they want them to prioritize (e.g., Climate and Environment), shows how it connects to their local community and proposes a solution. The Pulitzer Center welcomes entries from all current K-12 students across the globe. First-place winners will receive US$300 to support global community engagement. Educators working with groups of 50 or more students can also schedule a free, virtual workshop facilitated by a member of the Pulitzer Center Education team. Pulitzer Center — Rainforest Reporting Grant

The Pulitzer Center provides short-term project support to journalists reporting in tropical forests. The Rainforest Reporting Grant supports journalists in three main rainforest regions—the Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia. The supported journalism projects will focus on the tropical forests’ role in the overall climate equation and weather patterns, deforestation drivers, and solutions to halt deforestation. The Pulitzer Center will fund costs associated with reporting projects on tropical rainforests in the range of US$8 thousand to US$15 thousand. Earth Journalism Network — Seed Grants for Media Outlets in Nepal

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants of €4,500 to media outlets in Nepal to support new media programming on natural resource management and green growth. The grants are intended to seed new programs, columns, or sections that focus on providing innovative and solutions-oriented information on green growth and natural resource management to the public and policymakers. Eligibility extends to media outlets in Nepal – including newspapers, online media, radio, television, multimedia platforms, and social media channels. The application deadline is 21 August  2025. Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation — Environmental Photography Award

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (PA2F) Environmental Photography Award aims to reward photographers who put their creativity to good use in raising awareness on environmental protection. Photographers are invited to reflect on our relationship towards nature and the interrelation between human health and planetary health. Images can be entered in 5 categories: Polar Wonders, Beneath the Canopy, Life under the Surface, Humanity versus Nature, and Towards a Sustainable Future. Vegan Society — Grant Program

The Vegan Society supports projects that support small scale animal agriculture farming to transition to crop farming or land management. Or other forms of sustainable land management that don’t use animals. The typical award is no more than £1 thousand. The Vegan Society welcomes applications from across the world. Pulitzer Center — Reporting Grants for Journalists

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides grants to individual journalists and news organizations to support in-depth, high-impact reporting on topics of global importance. Awards cover reporting costs. Most awards for international travel are between US$5 thousand and US$10 thousand.
