The University of Waterloo, in partnership with the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) and the EcoInnovation Network, invites students and aspiring entrepreneurs to register in a six-part series of free online workshops on green entrepreneurship. The workshop targets researchers, youth, aspiring environmental and social entrepreneurs from across North America (including Mexico). The workshop provides practical knowledge and resources for those interested in launching green startups. European Commission — Overseas Biodiversity and Climate Change
BEST 2.0+ promotes the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of ecosystem services, including climate change adaptation and mitigation, in the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) in the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Pacific, Polar and Subpolar, and South Atlantic regions. Local authorities and civil society organizations are invited to submit projects with focus on local development, biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of ecosystem services. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Higher Education for Sustainability in Mexico
The US-Mexico Innovation Fund Competition is designed to create and foster partnerships between higher education (HEIs) in Mexico and the United States that provide new student exchange and training programs in the academic themes of Green/Renewable Energy, Sustainable Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and others. BIOPAMA — Rapid Response Grants
The Rapid Response Grants aim at increasing the resilience of protected areas and local communities’ livelihoods facing the risks and difficulties of the global COVID-19 pandemic in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must be no more than € 50 thousand. Funding is intended for enhanced management and governance of protected or conserved areas, recovery of protected and conserved areas, and maintaining the livelihoods of local communities whilst effectively contributing to protected areas management. Climate Tracker — Scholarship for Journalists (Chile)
Climate Tracker offers a 3-month paid fellowship to environmental and climate journalists from Chile. Fellows are expected to cover Energy and Climate Change issues and publish at least two articles in national media. Selected fellows receive online training, mentorship and a US$150 stipend per month for the duration of their fellowship. World Wildlife Fund U.S. — Professional Development Grants
WWF-US offers Professional Development Grants (PDGs) to help mid-career conservationists pursue non-degree training to upgrade their knowledge and skills. These trainings can include short courses, certificate trainings, or conferences among other training opportunities. Mid-career conservation professionals from select WWF-US priority countries (listed in the announcement) must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for a grant. European Commission — Environmental and Climate Development in Brazil
The European Commission (EC) seeks to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Brazil by supporting and strengthening local civil society organizations. Proposed projects under this call must: (a) strengthen the participation of civil society in the implementation of international agreements in environmental and/or climate areas, (b) develop sustainable socio-economic post-pandemic activities in the Amazon, or (c) support indigenous peoples in the Amazon. Grants requested under this call must be between €400 thousand and €650 thousand. Eligibility extends to Brazilian non-profit civil society organizations. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Traditional Communities in the Cerrado
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a global program that provides grants to civil society to safeguard the world’s biodiversity hotspots. The CEPF intends to engage a consultant to develop an innovative knowledge product that will document best practice pertaining to the identification and mapping of areas of social and environmental importance where “invisible” traditional communities of the Cerrado reside. The consultancy will be conducted over a six-month period between September 2020 and March 2021. The total amount of time for the assignment is estimated at 20 days. U.S. Agency for International Development — Coastal and Marine Habitat Conservation in Haiti
USAID seeks to improve human wellbeing and reduce the threats to biodiversity by improving agriculture and fishing practices in coastal and marine environments of Haiti. USAID will provide funding for projects that reduce the underlying threats to coastal and marine resources; enhance the resilience of coastal communities; conserve flora and fauna in select marine protected areas by strengthening governance structures that have the ability to adaptively manage protected areas; and ensure long-term conservation by implementing sustainable natural resource management strategies. The estimated total project funding is US$500 thousand. Eligibility is restricted to non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education based in Haiti.
