The US-Andean Innovation Fund Competition is designed to create and foster partnerships between higher education (HEIs) in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia and the United States that provide new student exchange and training programs in the academic themes of Environment & Climate Solutions, Food & Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and others. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to six grants of US$36 thousand. Higher education institutions in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia and the United States are eligible to apply. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) seeks to support innovative solutions that contribute to the sound management of hazardous Chemicals and Waste in the Caribbean region. The United States Agency for International Development seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the “Combating Wildlife Trafficking” program. USAID aims to reduce threats to biodiversity in the Caribbean region by reducing the illegal collection and poaching of wildlife for international trade related to demand for pets or collections, food, medicines, jewelry and crafts. University St. Gallen — Consolidation Grant with Latin America
The Consolidation Grant promotes sustainable, longer-term research cooperation between Swiss and Latin American scholars. The goal is to provide financing for the organization of collective workshops, conferences, and fieldwork, as well as for the mobility of young researchers. The Leading House invites scholars from Switzerland to propose research projects in any Latin American country, involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships. Government of Norway — Small Grants Program on Plastic Waste
The Small Grant Program on Plastic Waste seeks to improve the management of plastic waste and contribute towards preventing and significantly reducing marine pollution. The Program seeks to identify and implement low-cost high impact pilot projects on the ground. Selected projects will seek to enhance capacities in partner countries to implement and enforce the Basel Convention and manage plastic waste in an environmentally sound manner. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making, is able to address and respond to development challenges, and empowers women and girls. The Ecuador New Environmental and Economic Reactivation Partnerships Initiative is designed to increase seascape conservation, combat illegal fishing, reduce ocean plastic pollution, achieve sustainable forests management, and support forest carbon sequestration and economic reactivation. UNESCO and the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) make grants to support the creation of geoparks in Small Island Developing States.
