Unilever — Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2018

The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards invite nominations of individuals ages 18 to 35 anywhere in the world who have initiatives, products, or services that address sustainability challenges in four categories. The categories are “farm to table” (sustainable agriculture and food and drink nutrition); opportunities for women; waste management; and water management. The awards will be made to individuals who are putting their ideas into action, i.e., who are already having an impact. Unilever will recognise up to eight winners in 2018, each of whom will be awarded a cash prize in addition to one-to-one mentoring support for a year. The overall winner will receive the “HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize” of €50 thousand. The deadline for nominations is 30 June 2018. Link

European Commission — European Development Fund

The European Union seeks proposals for the program “CSO-RISE – Civil Society Organisations in Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development” to foster the initiatives of the civil society organisations in their capacities to address economic, social and climate-resilient issues through innovative interventions. The proposals presented should cover technologies, economic activities, policies and services in the theme sustainable agriculture. Grants will fall between 1.5 – 2.2 million. United States Government — Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Big Cats Species

The United States Department of State seeks to reduce wildlife trafficking and environmental crimes. Therefore, applications are invited from qualified non-governmental organizations (NGOs), educational institutions, and other non-profit qualified organizations for a grant to implement a program to “Combat Trafficking in High Value Wildlife Products from Big Cats”. For the purposes of this NOFO, “big cats” include the following species and all of their subspecies: cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), jaguar (Panthera onca), leopard (Panthera pardus), lion (Panthera leo), puma (Puma concolor), snow leopard (Panthera uncia), and tiger (Panthera tigris). UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Biotechnology and Bioenergy in the Developing World

BBSRC seeks collaborative research projects addressing challenges relating to industrial biotechnology and bioenergy in the developing world. Projects my focus on the themes of agriculture, sustainable energy or clean water. Applicants can request a maximum of £2 million per project for up to three years. The call is open to individuals and organisations. Projects must be led by an eligible PI in the UK. Applications must be submitted by 06 June 2018. More

Government of Canada — Women’s Economic Empowerment in Ghana

The Government of Canada seeks preliminary proposals (stage I) under the Innovation for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Ghana call. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grant Directory). Proposals must contribute to the achievement of enhanced economic empowerment, well-being and inclusive economic growth for women in Ghana. Successful pre-proposals will be invited to submit a full project (stage II) and be considered for funding, receiving between $5 million and $10 million over a period of five years. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Future Leader Fellowship

The UKRI Future Leader Fellowship scheme supports early-career researchers and innovators from the UK and internationally. The support offered will be long-term (up to 7 years) and flexible (all fields of research), providing salary and justified research, staff and training costs (no budget limits). The mandatory Expression of Interest (first round) has to be submitted by 07 June 2018. Details

The European Union seeks proposals for projects that address challenges and create opportunities for the youth in Swaziland through entrepreneurship opportunities in sustainable agriculture. Grants requested must fall between €372 thousand and €472 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations located in the European Union or Swaziland. United States-India Science & Technology Endowment Fund — 9th Call for Proposals

The USISTEF announces its 9th competitive call for proposals to commercialize technologies for societal impact. Priority areas include health, education, agriculture, water, and others. Proposals must include at least one partner from each country, India and USA. Funding is up to Rs. 2.5 crores (approximately US$400 thousand) for projects that demonstrate a high potential to be commercial within 2-3 years. The bi-national teams can include incorporated companies; non-incorporated entities; and individuals or consortia from academic, government, and non-government R&D institutions. United States Government — Wildlife Detection Dog Programs in Southeast Asia

The United States Department of State seeks to reduce wildlife trafficking and environmental crimes. Therefore, applications are invited from qualified non-governmental organizations (NGOs), educational institutions, and other non-profit qualified organizations for a grant to implement “Wildlife Detection Dog Programs in Indonesia and Malaysia”. Applicants may submit either (i) a proposal for work in both Indonesia and Malaysia with a budget up to $2million; or (ii) a proposal for work in one country, either Indonesia or Malaysia, with a budget up to $1 million. ZipRecruiter is an online platform for job seekers and employers. The platform launches its call for the Winter/Spring 2018 Scholarship Promotion. College or university students may submit a small essay about a previous job they’ve held and their ideal post-graduate career for the chance to win a $3 thousand scholarship. Participants must be enrolled as a student at an accredited high school, college or university.
