The Women & Gender Constituency invites applications for the Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards. The awards aim to showcase real solutions for a more just, equal and healthy planet, such as non-technical climate solutions, technical climate solutions, and transformational climate initiatives with a women or gender perspective. Three winners will each receive € 5,000 and a chance to attend the COPs. Global Good Fund — Fellowship Program 2024
The Global Good Fund Fellowship is a 12-month leadership development program for young social entrepreneurs who remain in their workplaces. Each fellow is offered mentoring; resources for leadership assessment; a peer network; and financial support. Past fellows represent enterprises for agriculture; environment; solar energy; and other green development. The program is open to applications worldwide. Candidates should be under age 40. U.S. Department of State — Combating Wildlife Trafficking through Outreach and Awareness
The U.S. Government announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that counter trafficking of endangered and protected species for use in traditional medicine globally. The U.S. Government will mobilize resources, and strengthen operational capacity to combat nature crimes, including wildlife and timber trafficking. The program goal is to engage civil society and/or local NGOs in the prevention of trafficking of endangered and protected species. Funding ranges from US$500 thousand to US$1 million. Elsevier — Renewable Transformation Challenge
Elsevier announces the biennial Renewable Transformation Challenge. The challenge invites innovative proposals which contribute to the goal of transitioning to 100% renewable energy. The first prize winner receives €20 thousand. Eligibility to apply extends to organizations such as private enterprises, NGOs, and research institutions for undertaking projects and programs that help move the world toward an energy system supplied entirely by renewable energy sources. Pitch AgriHack is a digital agriculture competition focused on accelerating entrepreneurial growth in the agriculture sector in Africa. The competition invites African businesses to pitch their approach to driving technological innovation in the agriculture sector. The competition provides cash prizes totaling US$45 thousand. A fourth invite-only category will award up to US$1.5 million in grants to scalable ventures that are already generating measurable impact for Africa’s smallholder farmers. U.S. Department of State — Strengthening Sustainable Communities in Panama and Costa Rica
The U.S. Department of State makes grants to incentivize support and help build sustainable communities in Panama and Costa Rica through the development of small to medium-sized business enterprises supported by small business development centers. Track one will focus on developing sustainable tourism for economic development. Track two will focus on workforce development which includes agriculture sectors. European Commission — Development of Green Energies in Haiti
The European Commission (EC) seeks to reduce Haiti’s vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. The EC will fund the development and better penetration of renewable energies at the local level. U.S. Government — Environmental Defenders Capacity Building and Small Grants
The U.S. Government seeks to reduce violence against environmental defenders and protect and advance environmental defenders’ human rights. Applicants must be non-governmental organizations with a track record of working with threatened grassroots environmental defenders. Priority countries include Brazil, Colombia, DRC, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, and Vietnam. All projects should aim to have impact that leads to measurable reductions in threats and violence against grassroots organizations. The estimated total program funding is US$4.2 million. UNESCO — Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation
The UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation recognizes outstanding contributions by individuals, groups of individuals, institutes, or organizations in the management or preservation of the environment. This refers to contributions in environmental and natural resources research; environmental education and training; environmental awareness; and activities to establish and manage protected areas such as biosphere reserves and natural World Heritage sites. Nominations for the Prize can be made by UNESCO member states and by international organizations, or by NGOs which have consultative status with UNESCO. U.S. Government — Countering the Illicit Exotic Pet Trade
The project aims to combat wildlife trafficking across Central and South Asia including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The aim is to increase the capacity and ability of governments to identify, interdict, investigate, and prosecute this illegal trade and dismantle the organized crime networks. Awards range from US$300 thousand to US$600 thousand. Eligibility extends to US-based and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
