U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service — Marine Turtle Management and Conservation Program Pacific Islands

The International Marine Turtle Management and Conservation Program supports conservation, protection, or management actions supporting recovery of endangered sea turtle species occurring within the Pacific Islands Region. The program funds internationally-based projects to protect conserve western Pacific leatherback sea turtles occurring in Indonesia and Solomon Islands, and sea turtle management and conservation projects within Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Philippines, or Indonesia) and Japan with focus on fishery bycatch, nesting beach monitoring, poaching reduction, and/or the illegal sea turtle wildlife trade. Proposals between US$10 thousand and US$100 thousand per project year will be funded. Projects may apply for up to three years in length. Eligible applicants are institutions of higher education, nonprofits, commercial organizations, foreign institutions, foreign organizations, and governments. Letten Foundation — Prize for Young Researchers

The Letten Prize is an international prize for young researchers (under the age of 45) that conduct research aimed at addressing global challenges within the fields of health, development, environment and equality in all aspects of human life. The winner is awarded 2,5 million NOK (ca. US$235 thousand) to be used for research activities. The prize is open to researchers from all around the world. World Academy of Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships for Early-Career Researchers

In partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), TWAS invites early-career researchers from 21 Least Developed Member Countries to apply to the IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The fellowship will support research related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, providing recipients with high-level training in areas relevant to sustainability science. The program will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. The deadline for receiving applications is 06 March 2023. Know more

University of Pennsylvania — Visiting Fellowship for African Scholars

The Penn Development Research Initiative (DevLab at the University of Pennsylvania) seeks to build capacity for rigorous research on pressing policy challenges facing low- and middle-income countries, by providing training and research opportunities for emerging researchers. The university invites researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa to apply for a semester-long fellowship for the 2023 Fall semester (September – December 2023). Visiting fellows will have the opportunity to audit doctoral-level classes, carry out independent research and present their research. PDRI will cover accommodation, health insurance, a monthly stipend, visa fees, and round-trip economy airfare for selected fellows. The application deadline is 13 December 2022. Details

U.S. Department of State — Global Undergraduate Exchange Program

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) provides scholarships to outstanding undergraduate students from the developing world for one semester of non-degree full-time study combined with community service, professional development, and cultural enrichment in the USA. Students from all academic disciplines are welcome to apply. The eligible countries are listed in the call. Candidates need to apply through the U.S. embassies in their home countries. American University in Cairo — African Graduate Fellowships

The African Graduate Fellowship offers African students with limited financial means the opportunity to pursue a master degree at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Nationals of African countries (excluding Egypt) can apply for full-time study in any graduate program offered at the AUC, including the Master of Science programs in Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, and others. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Data Papers on Freshwater Species

GBIF and the open-access Journal of Limnology announce a call for researchers to submit data papers about species that inhabit the world’s inland waters. To assist efforts to fill gaps in primary biodiversity data on freshwater species, GBIF will sponsor the article processing charges (normally €624) for the first sixteen manuscripts accepted by the Journal. Wellcome Trust — Early-Career Research Awards

The Wellcome Trust supports bold and creative discovery research that has the potential to improve human life, health and wellbeing. The Early-Career Awards provide funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity through innovative projects. Research can be in any discipline, including STEM, experimental medicine, or climate – as long as it has the potential to improve human life. The Trust covers the researcher’s salary and up to £400 thousand for research expenses. The applicant’s host organization has to be based in the UK, Republic of Ireland, a low- or middle-income country (apart from India and mainland China).
