Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Knowledge Program

The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) makes scholarships to mid-career professionals from selected developing countries for short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and master’s programs (duration 12-24 months). Eligible countries as well as eligible courses are listed in the announcement. Interested applicants need to first select a course and then contact the education institution of the course and ask how to apply for the scholarship. The application deadline is 05 September 2023. International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture — International Courses for Agricultural Professionals 2023

ICRA supports education and capacity strengthening in agriculture and the rural sector in the developing world. ICRA offers specialized training courses for agricultural professionals each year. ICRA’s courses qualify for OKP/MSP scholarships funded by the Dutch government. Each scholarship program has separate application deadlines. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — MENA Scholarships

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Scholarship Program offers scholarships to professionals from ten MENA countries for short courses of two to twelve weeks in the Netherlands. Subject areas include agriculture, environment, and many others. NUFFIC supports professionals up to age 45 who are nationals of and working in one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia. (Note: MSP is not currently open to professionals applying from Sudan.) Potentially interested individuals review the courses and dates offered by the participating Dutch higher education institutions, and information about how to apply. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Data Papers on Soil Biodiversity

The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) announces a new call for authors to submit and publish data papers on soil biodiversity. Papers will be published in a special collection of Biodiversity Data Journal. The publisher Pensoft will waive the article processing fee (normally €650) for the first 40 accepted data paper manuscripts. The deadline to receive proposals is 22 September 2023. Swiss National Science Foundation — Consolidator Grants 2023

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supports scientific research in all academic disciplines. SNSF Consolidator Grants 2023 are aimed at researchers (based in Switzerland or abroad) who plan to apply for an ERC Consolidator Grant in 2023. Successful applicants will be able to conduct research in Switzerland and consolidate their scientific independence. The scheme is open to all fields of research and researchers of any nationality. Applicants can request a budget of up to CHF 1.75 million for a maximum of 5 years. Additional funding of up to CHF 870 thousand may be requested for specific costs. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants to Support Indigenous or Ethnic Minority Journalists

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists from Indigenous and ethnic minority groups to support the production of in-depth stories that will call attention to climate justice, biodiversity and other issues related to the rights and well-being of Indigenous peoples and communities. EJN plans to make 20-25 story grants of up to US$2000 each to selected journalists from the Asia-Pacific region. Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia — Project Grants

REDAA invites proposals for locally led initiatives to improve evidence, tools, and governance that can help people and nature thrive together in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Successful proposals will receive medium-scale grants between £200 thousand and £500 thousand for research-to-action initiatives lasting two to four years. Applications close 31 July 2023. Dubai Municipality — Dubai International Award for Best Practices

The Dubai Municipality, in collaboration with UN Habitat, offers Best Practices Awards for outstanding contributions that demonstrate valuable contributions to sustainable urban development. The five award categories include one on urban food systems, and one on addressing climate change and reducing pollution. The competition is open to governments, nonprofits, companies, universities and individuals. Total award prizes sum up to US$1 million. Winners will be announced at the awarding ceremony of the 13th cycle in Dubai. The deadline to receive submissions is 31 August 2023. Link to the award

Sustainable Energy for All — Sustainable Cooling Solutions

Sustainable Energy for All seeks youth-led sustainable cooling solutions that can improve affordability and increase access to sustainable cooling. Entries may be submitted by individuals or groups, all under 35 years of age. Three teams will receive a cash prize and further support from the competition sponsors. Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries — Fellowship Program in Freshwater Science

The Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Germany invites scientists from all countries and at different career stages to apply for a research visit. The program offers fellowships for PhD students, postdocs, and senior scientists for up to 24 months. The position is intended as an opportunity to join IGB to develop and implement original research ideas in ecology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, Ecohydrology, chemistry, behavioral ecology, genomics, inland fisheries and aquaculture.
