The Climate Change Photo Essay is open to young people aged 18 to 30 from Africa and its diaspora. Entrants are asked to submit a photo essay of three to five photographs that tell a cohesive story and address climate change in their communities. World Bank — Young Professionals Program 2024
The World Bank Group invites applications for the Young Professionals Program as a starting point for a career at the World Bank. The program is designed for individuals skilled in areas such as agriculture, natural resources, and many others. Applicants should hold a PhD or master’s degree and relevant work experience; be fluent in English; and meet other criteria relevant to experience, skills, and age. International Development Research Center — Research in Community Forestry 2024
The John G. Bene Fellowship is awarded to graduate students at Canadian universities who hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. The grant is for research on the relationship between forest resources and the social, economic, cultural, and environmental welfare of people in developing countries. Therefore, the student must spend a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks in the field in the following regions: Middle East, North Africa, West Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Far Eastern Asia, Caribbean, Central America, South America, or Oceania. Smithsonian — Climate Change & Environmental Justice Fellowship
The Smithsonian launches two new in-residence fellowship programs: the Smithsonian Climate Change Fellowship and the Smithsonian Environmental Justice Fellowship. Each program will support a cohort of 2-5 fellows who will receive a stipend to conduct independent research that utilizes Smithsonian resources (e.g., data, facilities, expertise). Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the time the fellowship begins and propose to conduct research in residence for a period of no less than 12 months and no more than 24 months. Earth Journalism Network — Mediterranean Media Initiative Story Grants
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) supports the production of in-depth stories covering current and emerging marine issues in the Mediterranean. EJN offers up to 10 story grants with a budget of up to €1,000 each for this round of story grants to support reporting on illegal fishing and the biodiversity crisis in the Mediterranean region, as well as solutions to marine issues. Applicants can be from any country that borders the Mediterranean Sea. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) invites young people to express their interest in joining the IOM COP29 Youth Delegates on Climate Migration. The initiative will select and fully fund 20 youth delegates from different regions to participate in COP29, and in a series of online activities, such as webinars and consultations, before the Conference. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their networks and develop their skills to deliver an impactful faith-based climate action project. Swedish International Development Agency — Training Program: Locally Controlled Forest Restoration
The LoCoFoRest (Locally Controlled Forest Restoration) training program aims to build capacity in national, regional, and local institutions and organizations in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Lao PDR, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. The program will give participants the skills and knowledge to support local communities and entrepreneurs to make forest and landscape restoration scalable. The training consists of a web-based preparatory course, three weeks of training in Sweden, and a project in the participants’ home countries. The application should be made by the individual applicant but needs to be endorsed by an employer. The Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention calls for nominations for the 9th edition of the Ramsar Wetland Conservation Awards. The awards recognize and honor the contributions of individuals, organizations, and governments around the world in promoting the conservation and wise use of wetlands. Award recipients will each receive the Evian Special Prize of US$10 thousand provided by Danone. Individuals and organizations of any nation or region can be nominated.
