The Acumen Fellows Program supports social innovators from West Africa who are tackling issues of poverty and injustice within their community. The Fellowship consists of a fully-funded leadership program, where Fellows remain in their role while taking part in a series of immersive seminars, workshops, and group practice. The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University (USA) is a one-year training program for leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions to challenges in their communities or countries. Scholars attend courses and participate in leadership development training. Participants receive a furnished studio apartment during their stay, a monthly stipend to assist with living expenses, as well as travel and tuition fees paid. Pulitzer Center — Rainforest Investigations Network
The Pulitzer Center accepts applications for the Rainforest Investigations Network (RIN). The RIN Fellowship fosters collaboration among journalists to investigate the financial incentives, illegal activities, and global supply chains driving industrial-scale deforestation. RIN Fellows will pursue both individual and joint investigative projects, examining the root causes and structural drivers of deforestation across the three main tropical rainforest regions: the Amazon, the Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia. The Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme aims to support outstanding postgraduate students from developing and emerging economies for post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford, UK. Relevant areas of study include Biodiversity Conservation Management, Earth Sciences, Environment, International Wildlife Conservation Practice, Water Science, Zoology, and many others. The GEO Young Reporter Scholarship supports the new generation of journalists and photojournalists. The winner receives funding of €5,000 to produce his report and will be published in GEO magazine. Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study — Fellowships for Early-Career African Researchers
The Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) offers the Iso Lomso Fellowships to early-career African researchers in any discipline. The program provides a three-year attachment to STIAS in addition to the possibility of a residency at a sister institute for advanced study in North America, Europe, or elsewhere. Other benefits include support for attending international conferences or workshops and support to the fellow’s home institution for lecturer replacement. Mountaintop International — Fellowship for Community Leaders
The Mountaintop Fellowship is a paid, one-year, full-time fellowship for local leaders to stay in or return to their home communities and contribute to systems change in lower-income places around the world. Fellows receive a US$3,600 grant paid in 12 installments and have the opportunity to apply for the Catalyst Fund, which funds up to US$2,500 for fellows to implement a project in their community. BirdsCaribbean invites applications for its grants programs. The James A. Kushlan Research and Conservation Fund provides support on an annual basis for biological, ecological, and conservation research on waterbirds in the Caribbean region. The Betty Petersen Conservation Fund seeks to advance the conservation status of birds and habitats in the Caribbean region through projects that engage and empower communities and stakeholders to protect and benefit sustainably from their birds. David S. Lee Fund for the Conservation of Caribbean Birds supports applied and innovative projects with direct conservation effects on Caribbean birds and/or their habitats.
