UNESCO — Prize for Young Scientists

UNESCO invites nominations for the third edition of the UNESCO-Al Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The prize recognizes five outstanding young researchers from any country who have made significant contributions to STEM education, research, or international cooperation. Eligible nominees must be under 40 years of age at the time of nomination and must be put forward by official nominators, such as national commissions, academic institutions, or international organizations. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Research Fellowship for Brazilian Postdoctoral Researchers

The CAPES‑Humboldt Research Fellowship supports postdoctoral and experienced researchers from Brazil (and German nationals permanently based in Brazil) with fully funded research stays in Germany. Monthly stipends are approximately €2,700–€2,600 for postdoctoral fellows and €3,200–€3,100 for experienced researchers, with additional benefits such as research grants, travel allowances, family support, and optional German language courses. Turtle Conservation Fund — Research and Conservation of Tortoises and Freshwater Turtles

The Turtle Conservation Fund (TCF) makes grants to organizations and individuals worldwide for the conservation and research of endangered and critically endangered tortoises and freshwater turtles. TCF lists priority species. Most regular grants are US$2 thousand to US$5 thousand per project. The Fund also makes seed grants of US$1 thousand or less. Friedrich Ebert Foundation — Scholarships for International PhD Students

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation supports international students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe who study at universities in Germany. (Note: The FES only awards scholarships to applicants from abroad who have already enrolled in a German university or have a supervisor for their doctoral studies.) International students from all subjects (except the medical disciplines) are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Foreign scholarship holders receive up to €1 thousand per month over a period of two to three years, plus family allowance (if applicable). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Pulitzer Center — Reporting Grants for Journalists

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides grants to individual journalists and news organizations to support in-depth, high-impact reporting on topics of global importance. Awards cover reporting costs. Most awards for international travel are between US$5 thousand and US$10 thousand. Curt Bergfors Foundation — Food Planet Prize

The Food Planet Prize seeks ideas that could solve the dilemma of feeding a growing population on a warming planet. The prize awards two initiatives with €2 million each to speed up their product, project, or program. Nominees can be individuals, groups, organizations or businesses. National Geographic Society — Developing Future Ocean Stewards

The National Geographic Society invites proposals for projects that foster community-based ocean literacy and emotional connections to marine environments. Eligible applicants include individuals over the age of 18 with relevant education experience, with funding paths split into two tiers depending on whether the applicant is an existing National Geographic Explorer. The program supports both the piloting or scaling of immersive learning solutions and research into the effectiveness of educational innovations. Level I grant budgets are capped at US$20 thousand for projects to be completed within one year, while Level II budgets range up to US$100 thousand for up to two years. The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation — Prize for Engineering Innovations

The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering accepts nominations of ground-breaking innovations in engineering from all around the world which have been of benefit to humanity. In the scope of the Terra Viva Grants Directory, this may include innovations in the fields of sustainable energy, water management and/or agriculture. Earth Journalism Network — Fellowships for Journalists to Cover the UN Biodiversity Conference

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers fellowships for professional journalists to attend and report from the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP17) in Yerevan, Armenia. To be eligible, applicants must have previous experience reporting on environmental issues and represent an established media house in a low- or middle-income country. EJN will select eight journalists and fully cover economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel insurance, and ground transportation costs for the two-week event. Raptor Research Foundation — Raptor Research Grant

The Raptor Research Foundation invites applications for the Kevin Kritz Research Grant to support field research on eagle biology and conservation. Individuals worldwide are eligible to apply for this one-year grant, which funds projects focusing on eagles in any country. The foundation awards one grant per year of up to US$5 thousand, and the recipient also receives waived page charges to publish their study in the Journal of Raptor Research.
