Flame Tree Initiative — Off-Grid Energy Development Entrepreneurship Lab

Flame Tree Initiative (FTI) provides training, partnerships, and resources to promising African entrepreneurs seeking to create enterprises that address local development challenges. In collaboration with Mzuzu University, FTI invites Malawian entrepreneurs to apply to the Off-Grid Energy Development Entrepreneurship Lab (DELab). The development entrepreneur training program provides capacity building and support to entrepreneurs in the off-grid energy sector. Submissions will be accepted until 20 September 2019. Energy Lab

Climate Tracker — Assignment for Photographers

Climate Tracker seeks 20 photographers from selected countries in Africa, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, and the Caribbean to cover topics on global climate solutions ranging from renewable energy, climate displacement, coastal resilience, mangroves restoration, and more. Photographers will be compensated for their work with a stipend of €350. Local travel costs will be covered. Applications are invited from photographers with professional experience and knowledge of environmental and climate change issues. Photographers aged 18-30 are encouraged to apply. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Biotechnology Fellowships in USA

The IUSSTF announces the 2020 Khorana Program for Scholars. The program will provide a stipend, airfare, and health insurance to enable Indian students to undertake 10-12 weeks of research at U.S. universities in areas of biotechnology, including agricultural biotechnology. Government of India — India-Israel Joint Research Cooperation

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of State of Israel provide financial support for joint research activities carried out by Indian and Israeli researchers. The priority area under this call is Renewable Energy. The maximum funding available for all research projects under this call is Rs. 4 crore for the Indian side and 4 million NIS for the Israeli side, for the two year period. Breakthrough Institute — Research Fellowships

The Breakthrough Institute makes research fellowships to non-resident research collaborators with the Breakthrough Institute’s research program. The Institute supports research in energy, conservation, agriculture, with new approaches to major environmental and development challenges. The Research Fellowship runs for 8 weeks, totaling US$5 thousand. Applicants should possess a Master’s degree at minimum. Fellowships are open to applicants from any country. Earth Journalism Network — Bay of Bengal Media Workshop on Climate Change Reporting

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks journalists for a 10-day media workshop in Bangladesh focused on climate change justice and resilience (special focus on women and youth). The workshop provides on-the-ground experience and an opportunity for journalists to interact with experts and to participate in a field trip that will enable them to report on how climate change is impacting coastal communities. International Initiative for Impact Evaluation — Bursaries for London International Development Centre Short Course

The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) offers three bursaries to support postgraduates and professional staff from low-and-middle-income countries for the London International Development Centre short course “Evaluation: from innovation to impact.” The program will include sessions on quantitative and qualitative research as well as methods and impact evaluations. Global Landscapes Forum — Call for African Filmmakers

The Youth in Landscapes Initiative invites filmmakers between 18  and 35 years, to create a short film that showcases the power and the potential of youth-led actions and innovations in improving landscape management in communities in Ghana. Selected filmmakers will join the Youth in Landscape Camp being held near Accra (October 2019). The film must be between three and six minutes and can be of any genre or creative narrative. Blue Earth Alliance — Photography Projects

Blue Earth supports photography projects that educate the public about threatened cultures, endangered environments, and other social concerns through fiscal sponsorship. Blue Earth provides assistance with fundraising, publishing, and publicity. However, it does not make cash grants to sponsored projects. The next deadline for proposals is 20 January 2020. Forest Foundation Philippines — Forest Conservation in the Philippines

The Forest Foundation Philippines supports activities that foster the protection and sustainable management of forests in the Philippines. Proposed projects should contribute to the protection and sustainable management of forests and biodiversity. Grants may be used for scientific research, piloting forest management strategies in small islands ecosystems (includes Indigenous and Community Conserved Areas and Locally Conserved Areas), mangrove rehabilitation, or plant nurseries. Proponents may apply for small (Php 500 thousand), medium (Php 4 million) or large grants (Php 24 million). Individuals, groups and organizations are eligible to apply. Universities are invited to engage in partnerships rather than apply for grants. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Details
