Swedish International Development Agency — Training Course: Sustainable Urban Water and Sanitation in Africa

Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Organizations in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia are invited to nominate candidates for the Advanced International Training Programme ‘Sustainable Urban Water and Sanitation – Integrated Processes.’ Candidates representing government organisations, private companies, universities, or NGOs at national, regional or local level are encouraged to apply. The training will be provided in two parts: part 1 in Sweden, and part 2 in one of the participating countries. Sida will cover the costs of the program fee and required literature as well as accommodation, meals, health insurance, and international travel. The closing date for nominations is 08 May 2020. Regional Studies Association — Travel Grants

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) covers issues in the fields of climate change, energy, migration, and economic development. RSA makes travel grants of up to £500 to its members to present their work, network and participate in non-RSA events. (Note: non-members are encouraged to apply and join RSA). Grants have no geographical limitation. Applications are accepted twice a year. The deadlines for travel grant applications are 29 May and 30 November 2021. Link to travel grants

Regional Studies Association — Research Network Grant

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) covers issues in the fields of climate change, energy, migration, and economic development. RSA makes grants to researchers interested in establishing networks for research collaboration. The maximum funding is £10 thousand for newly established networks; and £7,500 for renewing networks. A research network must be organised and managed by active RSA members. Networks are typically made up of individuals from different countries, without any geographical limitation. Asia New Zealand Foundation — Capacity Building for Agribusiness Entrepreneurs

The Asia New Zealand Foundation and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs offer young Southeast Asian agribusiness entrepreneurs the opportunity to visit New Zealand. Applicants will learn about the New Zealand agriculture business environment, meet and network with entrepreneurs and business leaders, and attend New Zealand’s leading agribusiness event, Fieldays. Applicants must be entrepreneurs or business leaders at CEO or senior management level involved in agriculture from an ASEAN country. The Asia New Zealand Foundation will cover the costs of participating in the capacity building program (airfare, accommodation, meals, etc.). Applications close 20 February 2020. More here

Climate Tracker — Multimedia Stories on Air Pollution

Climate Tracker seeks emerging journalists from South Asia who tell stories about the air pollution crisis. Journalists are expected to produce multimedia stories that show how air pollution is impacting their communities. Fellows will receive guidance, resources, and a small grant to cover reporting expenses. The is no indication about a submission deadline. More information

The World Academy of Sciences — Workshop on Coffee Research

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) seeks young scientists from developing countries engaged in coffee research to participate in the workshop “Addressing Key Challenges on Coffee Research” (Italy, April 2020). The event will address key challenges in coffee research, growth and production and provide opportunities to build links and collaborations between researchers and coffee experts. Economy class flights, local transport and accommodation in Italy will be covered for selected participants. Applications must be received by 07 January 2020. About the event

International Livestock Research Institute — Africa Biosciences Challenge Fund

The Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) Hub awards research fellowships to African agricultural researchers for short-term projects (6 month) at the BecA-ILRI Hub in Nairobi. Research projects should be aligned with crops and livestock agricultural development priorities (identified in the announcement). Candidates should be currently engaged in agricultural research and be affiliated with a national agricultural research system in the eligible countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Under special partnership and collaboration arrangements, applicants from other African countries are considered for the fellowship. Sight and Life — Climate-Smart Nutrition

Sight and Life invites ideas from students, young professionals and entrepreneurs to provide a planet-friendly disruptive solution to combat malnutrition. Nutritional, climate-friendly and environmental-friendly innovative solutions from a diverse category of products, technologies and services are welcome. An Elevator Pitch Contest will be held at the Micronutrient Forum Global Conference (March 2020). Seven selected finalists will win a round trip and accommodation to Bangkok to present their idea. European Marine Board — Young Ambassador Programme

The European Marine Board (EMB) seeks creative young ambassadors that are willing to play a role in advocating for EMB and promoting the role and relevance of marine science. EMB ambassadors will participate in various activities, including EMB Plenary meetings and external events or workshops. The Ambassador will receive a total grant of €2 thousand and a travel grant up to a total amount of €3 for meeting and events. Ambassadors should commit up to 120 hours per year for a period of 2 years. Any PhD or postdoc student with experience in marine-based research is welcome to apply.
