Kingdom of Bahrain — King Hamad Award for Sustainable Development

The Kingdom of Bahrain seeks youth contribution and projects that enable youth participation for the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The first category of the King Hamad Award is open to individuals (under the age of 30) or a youth-focused entity that develop initiatives to end poverty and hunger, protect the planet’s natural resources and climate, and promote peace. Five winners will receive US$20 thousand each. The second category is open to governmental, private sector, media, and nonprofit entities. Three winners will receive US$25 thousand each. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Webinar Series

IHE Delft and partners in Palestine, Jordan, and Europe introduce a new webinar series on free and open-source software programs and their applications in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The online MSc program is designed for students in Water Resources Engineering with the aim to provide participants with the latest technological tools, interdisciplinary skills, and applied experience needed to tackle critical water resources issues in the MENA region. OpenIDEO — Reimagine Charitable Giving Challenge

The Reimagine Charitable Giving Challenge seeks innovative digital ideas on how we might reinforce a culture of generosity by creating charitable giving solutions that are more accessible, inclusive, and effective. Ideas, concepts, startups and organizations at any stage of development are invited to participate and may be submitted to the challenge. Up to 10 concepts will be selected as finalists and receive a share of up to US$100 thousand in prize funding. Submissions are accepted until 06 November 2020. Click for details

NaturVision Filmfestival — Documentary Competition

NaturVision is a nature and environmental film festival in Ludwigsburg (German) with focus on documentary productions on the subjects of nature, wildlife, people, environment, and sustainability. NaturVision seeks film entries for its 2021 festival in 12 different categories. The competition is open to new and established filmmakers as well as television production companies from anywhere in the world. The “NaturVision Competition” awards prizes ranging from €1 thousand to €10 thousand in various categories. Early submission is free of charge until 30 November 2020. The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program funds citizens and residents of Sub-Saharan Africa for graduate studies at the University of British Columbia, USA. The fields of study at UBC include Sustainable Forest Management; Environmental Management; Food Science; Land and Water Systems; and many others. Ashinaga UK — Webinar: How to apply to a UK University

Ashinaga UK, the UK branch of “Ashinaga”, will be hosting a webinar entitled “How to Make a Successful International Application to a UK University”. A panel of experts will give tips for applying to UK universities as an international applicant, covering both undergraduate and postgraduate options. Climate Change Africa Opportunities Network — Green Ambassadors for Climate in Africa

The Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO) Network asks young climate and environment activists to become Green Ambassadors for climate in Africa. The network aims to promote young climate activists and support them in remaining proactive for the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change. Green Ambassadors are voluntary activists but will receive international recognition and access to networking opportunities. Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association — Marine Litter and Microplastic

The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) invites expressions of interest from senior experts to prepare a report on different aspects of marine litter in the Western Indian Ocean region. The reports should focus on the status of marine litter and microplastics knowledge in the region, their ecological, human health and economic impacts, and the effectiveness of measures undertaken to address the challenge. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — Global AgriInno Challenge 2020

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Zhejiang University, seek youth-led innovations and solutions in response to the challenges associated with distribution and sales of agri-food products. Selected teams of two to five young innovators will be invited to further develop and pitch their digital development solutions in China (November 2020). Winning teams will receive seed funding to develop their ideas. The agri-innovation challenge is open to all youth (below 35 years old) with digital innovations or ideas for the agri-food sector. EnAccess Foundation — Open Source Innovations for Energy Access

The EnAccess Foundation invites proposals for open source innovations focusing on providing energy access with livelihood focus in Tanzania. The idea is to provide households, businesses, and institutions with access to electricity and reduce energy poverty. Each project may request a grant of up to US$ 150 thousand. Eligibility extends to start-ups, companies, non-profits, individual innovators, investors, and researchers. Organizations should have a minimum of 1-2 years of business operations. The final submission deadline is 30 October 2020. Projects are selected for funding on a rolling basis, therefore, earlier submissions are highly recommended. Energy Access
