The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites Indigenous journalists from around the world to apply for a two-day media workshop (Kenya, February 2023). The workshop will explain the importance of Indigenous environmental reporting and build valuable journalistic skills to help participants strengthen their reporting and storytelling skills. The workshop is open to Indigenous journalists from any country interested in covering Indigenous environmental issues. Acumen, with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, invites students from all around the world to submit innovative solutions to tackle the greatest food systems challenges. The Rockefeller Foundation-Acumen Food Systems Fellowship is an intensive, one-year leadership development program for food systems leaders who are creating more inclusive, nourishing and regenerative food systems. Eligibility extends to individuals who demonstrate experience in building inclusive food systems. The Garden Club of America (GCA) offers several grants, prizes, and fellowships for students enrolled at universities in the USA, including some awards that have a tropical focus. The GCA Awards in Tropical Botany are open to PhD candidates (application deadline is 15 January). Media Foundation for West Africa — Climate Change Journalism Fellowship
The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) accepts applications for the Climate Change Journalism Fellowship. The aim is to train and capacitate local journalists to report on the climate change crisis and how it is affecting the lives and livelihoods in African countries. Fellows will work remotely from their home countries and participate in virtual training workshops, seminars, and speaking engagements. U.S. Government — International Exchange Grant Program
The Office of Private Sector Exchange (BridgeUSA) announces an open competition for the administration of the 2023 BridgeUSA STEM Scholarship Fund. The Office plans to issue one cooperative agreement of approximately US$260 thousand to implement the program. U.S. public and private non-profit organizations may submit proposals to provide approximately 50 scholarships to foreign university students, scholars, and professionals across Africa, East Asia and Pacific, and Western Hemisphere regions. Earth Journalism Network — Biodiversity Fellowships for Journalists
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) announces fellowships for journalists interested in attending and reporting from the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (December 2022). Eight journalists will be selected for the fellowship and receive resources and tools to help prepare for reporting at the conference. Journalists may produce stories in print, online, radio or broadcast formats. EJN will cover airfare, accommodation, meals, travel insurance, and transportation costs. Johnson & Johnson — Scholars Award Program for Women in STEM2D
The Johnson & Johnson Scholars Award Program supports female STEM2D leaders (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design). The Scholar Award is paid to the university of the recipient in support of her studies and research. Applicants must be assistant female professors or have a global equivalent faculty position at an accredited academic university, institution or design school. African Academy of Sciences — African Postdoctoral Fellowships
The African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) supports early-career African scientists who wish to become scientific leaders in their community. APTI makes 4-year postdoctoral fellowships where Fellows are placed in various laboratories for 2 years before returning to their home institutions in Africa for another 2 years of research. Applicants must be citizens of an African country and currently employed in an academic, research, or government position. The fellowship provides salary support of up to US$38 per year, research support of up to US$50 thousand per year, and equipment purchase support of up to US$50 thousand.
