In partnership with the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) invites young scientists from developing countries other than Brazil to pursue postdoctoral research in natural sciences at selected Brazilian research institutions for periods of 6-12 months. Subject areas include agricultural sciences, biological sciences, and many others. CNPq will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs such as accommodation, food, and health insurance. The application deadline is 31 January 2025. Link

UNESCO — Fellowship for Young Women Scientists in Africa
Nominations for the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Program for Young Women Scientists in Africa are open. The initiative aims to bridge the persistent gaps on the African continent and is designed to offer targeted support and focuses on promoting equal opportunities in science, by creating concrete opportunities for young women to become actively involved in various life science disciplines. Two young women will be awarded a grant of US$25 thousand each to advance their research and foster a promising scientific career. Acumen Fund — East Africa Fellowship
The Acumen East Africa Fellows Program is a 6-month program comprising 5 seminars that gives individuals from East Africa the training they need to accelerate their social impact and leadership potential. Eligible countries are Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan & Ethiopia. Past fellows have included several in smallholder agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, fair trade, and other areas. Wilson Center — MENA Youth Fellowship
The Wilson Center announces a call for applications for the “Agents of Change Youth Fellowship,” a professional fellowship program for emerging leaders seeking meaningful careers at the intersection of climate change and security. The 2025 cohort will have a focus on water. The program is open to applicants from countries in the MENA region with a minimum of 5 years of work experience. The Delft University of Technology offers the African Water Corridor Scholarship for two Sub-Saharan African students in the Master’s program Environmental Engineering, track Water Resources Engineering. The scholarship comprises full tuition fees for this 2-year TU Delft CEG Master program based on the statutory fee or institutional rate and contribution for the living expenses. CatchLight — Global Fellowship
The CatchLight Global Fellowship awards visual storytellers who ignite social change through their photography, videography or leadership by leveraging the power of visuals. Climate Investment Funds — Youth Fellowship
The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) supports young climate professionals with a career-focused fellowship program. The CIF Youth Fellowship is a professional capacity-building program focused on providing hands-on experience to young leaders in global climate action. CIF Youth Fellows will work with Multilateral Development Banks on real-world projects in areas related to nature-based solutions, clean energy, adaptation and climate resilience, energy access, and gender and social inclusion. Reporters Without Borders — Rest & Resilience Fellowship
Reporters Without Borders Germany invites two journalists from countries with restricted freedom of press and information to Berlin for a period limited to six months. During their stay, media professionals take time off from their daily obligations to recover from their difficult working conditions and to expand their personal and professional horizons. Additionally, the time spent in Berlin offers opportunities for exchange with international journalists from all over the world. Reporters Without Borders will cover travel and living costs. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Residency Program
The Humboldt Residency Program offers participants the opportunity to cooperate on a common topic, generate new ideas, and communicate them to a broad audience. The topic for 2025 is “The Future of Food”. During the six-week residency in Brandenburg/Berlin, participants meet daily in shared working spaces and have the unique opportunity of extensive time and freedom to gain an in-depth understanding of each other’s work. Funding for participation in the Humboldt Residency Program includes a monthly allowance, travel allowance, accommodation, and a budget for arranging public event formats.
