Swedish Energy Agency and partners — Climate Smart Cities Challenge

The Climate Smart Cities Challenge is an opportunity for cities to participate as implementation partners in a city-based open innovation competition for cutting-edge solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Interventions can be across multiple sectors or a combination, such as waste management, food production, energy systems, ecosystems, green space development, and others. The competition invites cities from all around the world to apply with their ideas for creating thriving communities. Selected cities will receive help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. U.S. Agency for International Development — Market Based Resilience for Marginalized Populations

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified organizations to implement Somalia’s Market Based Resilience for Marginalized Populations (MB-RMP) Activity. USAID intends to make one award of US$ 6.5 million to accelerate economic development of marginalized groups through rural and urban livelihood diversification. Eligibility is unrestricted. Applications are accepted from foreign and domestic non-profit organizations, for-profit companies, academic institutions as well as regional organizations and community groups. East-West Center — Pacific Islands Leadership Program

The East-West Center welcomes applications for the Pacific Islands Leadership Program with Taiwan to enhance the leadership capacities of young leaders in the Pacific Islands. Participants will spend approximately two months at the East-West Center’s campus in Hawaii, in addition to a month in Taipei at the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs. The curriculum includes topics in climate change and environmental stewardship, among others. Eligibility extends to early and mid-careers professionals in the Cook Islands, Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Climate Tracker — Energy Transition in Latin America

Climate Tracker, in partnership with Clean Energy Wire, offers 12 scholarships to journalists to cover investigations into the energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean. The participant will be trained in the use of advanced media research tools and will address how the media covers the stories of energy and climate change in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund — Clean Energy Technologies

The Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) supports the private sector to expand its clean energy technologies to Africa’s rural communities. The AECF Innovation Fund is looking to invest between US$100 thousand and US$300 thousand to support business growth for impactful innovations across clean cooking and productive use of energy technology sectors. The co-financing requirement is a minimum of 30% of the project cost. Eligibility extends to the African private sector (for-profit as well as non-profit) in Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, and Sierra Leone. Energy Efficiency Innovation Challenge calls for the submission of business ideas or solutions that can contribute to lowering energy consumption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Eligibility extends to companies operating or based in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Netherlands Enterprise Agency — Access to Renewable Energy

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency supports projects that contribute to access to sustainable energy for households in developing countries. Projects under this call should contribute to access to renewable energy technologies and services. Applicants can apply for a subsidy of min. €250 thousand and max. €2.5 million per project. The program is open to activities in the following countries: Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Gambia, India, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, and South Sudan. Ashoka — Fellowship Mexico, Central America, Caribbean

The Ashoka Fellowship selects social entrepreneurs with high impact and systems change projects in Mexico, Central American and Caribbean countries. Ashoka seeks projects with innovative strategies, methods, or new approaches to address opportunities and problems. PES Latam Alliance — Support for Social Entrepreneurs in Latin America

PES Latam Alliance supports social entrepreneurs in Latin America to accelerate their impact in the region. The Bridge for Billions program seeks social businesses with innovative solutions working to improve the lives of the most vulnerable. Selected social enterprises will be able to access up to US$50 thousand of seed capital, support through courses and events, training with alliance partners, and a community of entrepreneurs. The applicants must be a registered hybrid or for-profit business and must have been operating (selling product/service) for at least a year. German Academic Exchange Service — Postdoc Program in Research on Climate Change in Africa

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) seeks African researchers for a new postdoc program in application-oriented research on climate change. The program supports capacity building and collaborative research activities in the following areas: Agriculture, Land Use, Biodiversity, Food Security, Marine Science, Energy, Water Security, Woodland and Forest Sustainability.
