Scottish Government — Asia Partnerships Higher Education Research Fund

The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) Scotland Asia Partnerships Higher education Research (SAPHIRE) Fund is available to Scottish universities to enable research to include a focus on environmental issues and climate change. Funding of up to £10 thousand will be provided to support existing research projects in climate research, emissions research, sustainable energy, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, water and food, and clean water, among others. The scheme is open to Scottish researchers with a partner from either Australia, India, Japan, Pakistan, South Korea, Singapore or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). CEZ Group — Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)

The Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 7 aims to identify and support youth-led enterprises that are tackling the energy divide in the worst affected countries and regions. The challenge welcomes innovations for addressing energy needs, for example, providing affordable energy to communities with limited access or clean alternative cooking fuels. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project grant and 12 months of mentorship from a team of CEZ Group professionals. The initiative must be youth-led (founded by a person aged 18 – 30). Climate Tracker — COP28 Energy Justice Team Africa

Climate Tracker seeks journalists from Africa to join their COP28 team. Selected journalists will join Climate Tracker to cover the global climate summit in-person and virtually. Journalists will receive expert training and mentorship from experienced journalists and climate experts. The deadline to apply is 03 August 2023. COP28 Energy Justice Team Africa

SEED — Replicator Workshop for Eco-Enterprises

The SEED Replicator program offers incubation workshops to identify opportunities for enterprise creation and to guide aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners looking for partnerships to build an eco-inclusive business model. Successful alumni can apply for a SEED Grant which pays for your immediate necessary activities, measures or machinery required to establish the new enterprise. SEED Replicator Program currently invites applications from entrepreneurs in India. Participation is free, although participants need to cover their transportation costs and accommodation. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Knowledge Program

The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) makes scholarships to mid-career professionals from selected developing countries for short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and master’s programs (duration 12-24 months). Eligible countries as well as eligible courses are listed in the announcement. Interested applicants need to first select a course and then contact the education institution of the course and ask how to apply for the scholarship. The application deadline is 05 September 2023. Sustainable Energy for All — Sustainable Cooling Solutions

Sustainable Energy for All seeks youth-led sustainable cooling solutions that can improve affordability and increase access to sustainable cooling. Entries may be submitted by individuals or groups, all under 35 years of age. Three teams will receive a cash prize and further support from the competition sponsors. New Zealand Aid Program — Collaborate Pacific Fund

Collaborate Pacific aims to support effective governance, leadership, regional cooperation, and sustainable development in the Pacific. The fund supports small-scale activities in thematic priority areas: Agriculture, Climate Change, Oceans and Fisheries, Renewable Energy, and many other development priorities. Funding can cover travel (including transport, accommodation, and meals) and event costs (including hosting costs). Pacific Island citizens, NGOs, government agencies, and civil society are encouraged to apply. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Find out more

European Union — Clean Cooking Solutions in Tanzania

The CookFund program seeks to reduce climate change impact in Tanzania by increasing the share of the population with access to sustainable cooking solutions. The CookFund targets suppliers of clean cooking technologies in urban areas. The program provides technical and financial support to eligible enterprises and companies. The size of individual awards will range from €10 thousand to €300 thousand. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2023. Clean Cooking Solutions

Elsevier — Renewable Transformation Challenge

Elsevier announces the biennial Renewable Transformation Challenge. The challenge invites innovative proposals which contribute to the goal of transitioning to 100% renewable energy. The first prize winner receives €20 thousand. Eligibility to apply extends to organizations such as private enterprises, NGOs, and research institutions for undertaking projects and programs that help move the world toward an energy system supplied entirely by renewable energy sources. European Commission — Development of Green Energies in Haiti

The European Commission (EC) seeks to reduce Haiti’s vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. The EC will fund the development and better penetration of renewable energies at the local level. Applicants may request up to €1.6 million in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations. The deadline for submission of concept notes is 07 July 2023. More information
