Student Energy Summit — Video Contest

The Student Energy Summit announces a video contest focused on the theme “Reimagining the Future with Renewable Energy.” The winners of the video contest will receive fully-funded participation in the Student Energy Summit 2023 in Abu Dhabi (November 2023). Siemens Gamesa — Student Climate Competition

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) launch the “Universities for Goal 13” student competition. The competition engages students in the fight against climate change. The winning solution will be awarded US$10 thousand in prize money for further development and implementation. The Competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in the universities that are participating in the contest. Awesome Foundation — Micro-Grants to Projects Worldwide

Each month, the Awesome Foundation makes a micro-grant of US$1,000 to an organization or project worldwide. Projects include initiatives in a wide range of areas including arts, technology, community development, and more. Anyone is eligible for a grant, including individuals, groups, and organizations. Milken Institute and Motsepe Foundation — Prize in Green Energy

The Milken-Motsepe Prize in Green Energy is a global competition to reward entrepreneurs and innovators working to address the most pressing and immediate challenges related to access to green, renewable energy. Registration is free and open to anyone, with a US$1 million grand prize available for the winning team, and US$1 million in additional prizes. Teams from anywhere in the world can register and submit designs and business models. An independent panel of expert judges will select semi-finalist teams to receive US$20 thousand each. In the finalist round, teams develop their prototypes and conduct field tests in vulnerable communities in Africa. To compete, green energy designs to be registered by 01 March 2023. Amazon Web Services — Clean Energy Accelerator 2023

The AWS Clean Energy Accelerator is a business acceleration program designed to support innovative mature startups that develop clean energy solutions. Finalists will receive technical, business, and go-to-market mentorship from Amazon Web Services and up to US$100 thousand each in AWS Promotional Credit. Flemish Inter-University Council — Short-Term Projects

The Flemish Inter-University Council (VLIR-UOS) invites applications for Short Initiative projects that aim to build and deepen academic/scientific collaborations among diverse teams of academics and researchers. Short Initiatives focus on a sustainable development challenge. The objective is to strengthen research and educational capacities of higher education and science institutions in partner countries in Latin America, Africa and Southeastern Asia. American University in Cairo — African Graduate Fellowships

The African Graduate Fellowship offers African students with limited financial means the opportunity to pursue a master degree at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Nationals of African countries (excluding Egypt) can apply for full-time study in any graduate program offered at the AUC, including the Master of Science programs in Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, and others. The fellowship covers tuition fees, housing, a monthly allowance and health insurance. The application deadlines are 15 January (fall semester) and 17 October (spring semester). Women’s World Summit Foundation — Prize for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life 2023

The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) invites nominations for its annual Prize for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life. The prize honors women’s groups for exceptional creativity, courage, and commitment to improve the quality of life in rural communities. Each year, between 5-10 winners receive a cash prize of US$1,000. Nominations include biographical data about the nominee; at least two endorsement letters; and labeled photos. United Nations Development Programme — Small Grants for Sustainable Livelihoods Projects in Zimbabwe

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites proposals for projects towards supporting awareness and education on conservation; sustainable livelihoods activities; and alternative sources of income and energy in Zimbabwe. Proposed project budgets should not exceed US$150 thousand. Total expected duration of each project is up to 18 months. African Leadership Academy — Anzisha Prize for Young Innovators 2023

The Anzisha Prize seeks young innovators ages 15-22 in Africa who develop and implement innovative solutions to challenges facing their communities. Past awards include innovations in energy, agriculture, and ecological consumer products. The grand prize winners will share prizes worth US$140 thousand.
