The aim of the Newton PhD Program offers full-time PhD scholarships for Filipino researchers at a UK higher education institution. The project must fall within the following priority areas (relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory): Improving environmental resilience; Improving energy security; Agritech; among other thematic areas. For an applicant to be considered for the DOST-Newton PhD Scholarship, the applicant must be a Filipino Citizen and have already been accepted to a PhD program in the UK. The scholarship will cover travel costs, monthly accommodation and living allowance, tuition fees, and a grant for consumables (up to a maximum of £3 thousand per year). Wilson Center — Addressing Environmental Challenges in the Americas
The Wilson Center Latin America Fellowship Program 2019/2020 seeks applications to conduct research about and propose concrete solutions to the range of environmental threats faced by countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The residential fellowship will take place at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. (USA). Fellows are provided with a monthly stipend for a stay of 4-6 months. Applicants must be citizens of a Latin American or Caribbean country and have an undergraduate or graduate degree and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. Fondation Carmignac — Photojournalism Award 2019
The Carmignac Photojournalism Award aims to support a journalistic and photographic project which shows the human, social and ecological challenges the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) faces today. The contest is open to photojournalism projects that explore humanitarian issues, human-wildlife conflicts, the exploitation of natural resources (including mining, freshwater, deforestation), and other conflicts relevant to the DR Congo. USAID seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the USAID/Uganda Biodiversity For Resilience Activity. The goal is to assist communities, the government, and the private sector to conserve and manage biodiversity for lasting environmental and economic sustainability. USAID intends to provide up to US$15 million, to be allocated over a five-year period. Save Our Species — Threatened Species Conservation in Central Asia
Save Our Species (SOS) makes grants for conservation actions on threatened species and their habitats in Central Asia. This Call is accepting proposals targeting the conservation of the Goitered Gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa) and the Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) and their habitats in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Oriental Bird Club — Bird Conservation in Asia
The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year.
