Seabird Group — Small Grants
The Seabird Group supports research, survey, and conservation of seabirds. It awards small grants each year, with priority to Seabird Group members working on Atlantic seabirds. BBVA Foundation — Awards in Biodiversity Conservation
The BBVA Foundation makes awards for biodiversity conservation in Spain and internationally. The Foundation’s goal is to publicly recognize the work done by conservationist organizations, institutions and agencies in carrying forward environmental conservation policies and projects. For Spain, there is one award of €250 thousand for actions in biodiversity conservation, and another award of €80 thousand for environmental communication. For the rest of the world, there is one award of €250 thousand for actions in biodiversity conservation. Applications for the worldwide award can be submitted in Spanish or English. Global Landscapes Forum — Landscape Leadership Camp in Asia
Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) invites applications to the Landscape Leadership Camp. The Camp offers sessions, discussions, field trips, workshops, dialogues, and field visits, you’ll have the chance to build your expertise and workshops for participants to craft strategies to bring back to their communities. The camp is for leaders between the ages of 18 and 35 championing landscape action and community-based solutions all across Asia. GLF offers a limited number of full and partial travel scholarships available to cover some participants’ travel, accommodation, and associated attendance costs. Earth Journalism Network — Media Grants Amazon
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) organizational grants to media outlets, NGOs, academic institutions, and other interested groups to support media and journalism activities related to environmental crimes in the Amazon Region in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Interested applicants should propose activities for the training of Amazonian journalists and communicators and for supporting the production of journalistic reports on environmental crimes. EJN expects to award grants of US$5,000 to US$10 thousand. The Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at students from low- and middle-income countries who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Research Collaboration 2025
Within the framework of Danish development cooperation, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for research proposals between Denmark and researchers in partner countries. In 2025, the following countries are eligible for research applications: Algeria, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia (incl. Somaliland), South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Vietnam. Eligible research themes include climate change and the environment. The expected duration of research projects is up to 5 years with a maximum grant of DKK 10 million for each project. Only universities or research-based institutions registered in Denmark and with the capacity to (co-)supervise Ph.D. students are eligible to submit an application. German Government — International Climate Initiative: Thematic Selection
The International Climate Initiative (IKI) funds climate projects that address pressing challenges in the areas of climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation. The funding amount provided by the German Government ranges from €5 million to €20 million per project. Applicants for funding must apply as a consortium. Nonprofit organizations, enterprises, universities,c and research institutions as well as international intergovernmental organizations are eligible. The selection procedure is done in two stages. Natural Environment Research Council — Independent Research Fellowship 2025
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funds researchers seeking to conduct their own environmental research within an eligible host organization in the UK. NERC supports fellows undertaking research across the breadth of the NERC remit within environmental sciences, including freshwater, earth, atmospheric, marine and terrestrial sciences, earth observation, and polar science. The total available funding is £7.2 million. This opportunity is open to applicants who hold a PhD qualification. The fellowship covers 80% full economic cost for five years.
