UN Women partners with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to grant financing to African youth entrepreneurs to develop and implement their solutions to address gender specific development challenges in their communities. Winning entries will receive seed grants of US$ 5 thousand or scale grants of US$ 10 thousand to develop and test their innovations. The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) launches a call to support the implementation of the effective use of digital technologies for agricultural transformation in Africa. Activities financed under this Call must facilitate the use of mechanized equipment by smallholder farmers and be implemented in at least two African countries. Funding of €50 thousand is available per project. Eligibility extends to private or civil society organisations. Individuals are not eligible to apply. Australian Government — Australian Aid: Friendship Grants 2018/19
The Australian Aid: Friendship Grants program supports organisations from across Australia and provides funding for aid activities in the Indo-Pacific. Eligible Australian community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding of AUD30-60 thousand in three annual grant rounds. The grants will fund development activities that strengthen an overseas community’s capacity or socio-economic situation and improve the lives of poor and vulnerable people. IOM and partners announce a call for applications to participate in the youth entrepreneurship pitching event “Start and Scale-up for SDGs”. The event will take place in Geneva (Switzerland) on 15 November 2018 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Young entrepreneurs from around the world are invited to pitch business ideas that contribute to at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A selected panel of impact investors, sustainable finance specialists and other experts will then provide comprehensive feedback on the submissions. USAID seeks applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the “USAID/Senegal Feed the Future Fisheries, Biodiversity & Livelihoods (FBL)” Activity. The purpose of the five-year Feed the Future Senegal Fisheries Biodiversity and Livelihoods Activity is to improve management of fisheries for ecological sustainability. European Partnership for Responsible Minerals — Responsible Mining
The international coalition of the EPRM is designed to improve conditions in and around mines and for the miners concerned in conflict-affected and high-risk areas. Projects should aim to improve the social, humanitarian, and environmental aspects of mining. Applicants may be companies, knowledge institutions, public or semi-public bodies, or NGOs in any combination and registered in any country. The maximum grant for a project is €340 thousand. U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration — Saltonstall-Kennedy Grants for Fisheries 2019
The Saltonstall-Kennedy program funds projects that address the needs of fishing communities, and that build and maintain sustainable fisheries. The focus areas in 2019 are marine aquaculture; adapting to environmental changes and other long-term impacts in the marine ecosystem; fisheries promotion, development, and marketing. The program is open to applicants in the USA, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau — with priority for applications from the fishing community, and that involve fishing community cooperation and participation. Australian Government — Direct Aid Program Africa
The Australian Government seeks applications for its Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2018/2019. DAP supports small-scale sustainable development projects and activities in the fields of agriculture; water and sanitation; environment/conservation; and others. The High Commission accepts project proposals from Benin, Cameroon, Gabon, Gambia, Niger and Nigeria. Funding of up to AUD60 thousand is available to community groups, NGOs, private sector entities, academic institutions, or other organisations engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis.
