The IDEAL Small Grants Program provides funding to existing projects with the aim to identify and address knowledge and capacity gaps in food and nutrition security programs around the world. The Applied Research Award (ARA) consists of Micro Grants funded up to $300 thousand for up to 12 months of implementation. Projects should focus on the development of tools or conduct topic-specific learning events. Applicants may be U.S. and non-U.S. NGOs, for-profit organizations, or institutions of higher education. European Union — AgriFI Challenge Fund
The AgriFI Kenya Challenge Fund is a European Union initiative to support smallholder agriculture through the provision of financial support to agri– enterprises. The Fund awards financial support to smallholder farmers in Kenya to practice environmentally sustainable and climate-smart agriculture. Any financial support requested must fall between the minimum amount of €200 thousand and the maximum amount of €750 thousand. The financial support will require 50% match funding from the agri-enterprise. The Fund aims to support projects put forward by small and medium sized agri-enterprises. European Commission — Environmental and Climate Development in Brazil
The European Commission (EC) seeks to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Brazil by supporting and strengthening local civil society organizations. Proposed projects under this call must: (a) strengthen the participation of civil society in the implementation of international agreements in environmental and/or climate areas, (b) develop sustainable socio-economic post-pandemic activities in the Amazon, or (c) support indigenous peoples in the Amazon. Grants requested under this call must be between €400 thousand and €650 thousand. Eligibility extends to Brazilian non-profit civil society organizations. UK Department for International Development — Agri-Tech Catalyst for Africa
The Agri-Tech Catalyst aims to increase the pace and scale of uptake of agricultural innovation by farmers in Africa. Projects should focus in any of three categories: early-stage technical feasibility; industrial research; or late-stage experimental development. Project leaders must be UK businesses (or UK research organizations in the case of early-stage technical feasibility). Projects should include at least one consortium member from an eligible African country. The European Commission (EC) aims to develop an independent forest observation monitoring systems in order to monitor forest governance and forest land use in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. First Solar — Charitable Fund
First Solar manufactures solar modules with an advanced semiconductor technology. The First Solar Corporate Charitable Fund seeks to improve the quality of life in communities around the world. Priority is given to projects focusing on “green” education initiatives, access to clean energy and water in underserved areas, and furthering the development of innovative and sustainable technologies. Grant requests must be for projects or services that cost or exceed US$10 thousand. Requests under US$10 thousand should be directed to the First Solar local office nearest the grant seeker. United States Agency for International Development — Equal Access to Natural Resources
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announces the Resilient, Inclusive, & Sustainable Environments (RISE) Challenge. USAID seeks innovative interventions that prevent and respond to gender-based violence across programs that address the access, use and management of natural resources. The challenge aims to fund organizations to innovatively adapt and implement promising or proven interventions that enhanced environmental action and women’s empowerment. USAID will award up to three awards in the amount of up to US$300 thousand. Eligibility extends to all organizations regardless of type (e.g., NGO; for profit; not-for-profit; community organizations, etc.) with local presence where USAID is currently operational. Fondation Segré — Wildlife Conservation
Fondation Segré focuses on the conservation of threatened species and their habitat, and the restoration of degraded ecosystems. It supports conservation projects around the world – including in the developing regions of Africa; Latin America and the Caribbean; Asia and Australasia; and Europe and the Middle East. Japan Water Forum — Darvish Yu Water Fund
The Darvish Yu Water Fund supports projects that provide safe drinking water and sanitation facilities at the grass-roots level in developing countries. Grants are up to US$4 thousand per project. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Environment and Climate Action in Belarus
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Belarus. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management, among other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$20 thousand to C$25 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to community organizations, non-profit organizations, local governments, academic institutions, and international non-profit organizations.
