Climate and Development Knowledge Network — Climate-resilient Action in African Countries

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) provides grants to projects led by African organizations that mobilize Indigenous and local knowledge to support locally-led and inclusive climate-resilient action in Africa. Projects must focus on economically and socially marginalized groups, such as women, young and elderly people, Indigenous Peoples, marginalized ethnic groups, and migrants. CDKN will provide up to US$150 thousand per project. The deadline for submissions of concept notes is 07 May 2023. More information

European Development Fund — Sustainable Cooking Solutions Tanzania

EuropeAid aims to promote sustainable forest management and wood-fuel production in rural areas with an overall aim of enhancing environmental sustainability, in particular the sustainability of the wood-fuel value chain. European Development Fund funds projects that combat the illegal clearing of forests for charcoal production and formalize the charcoal value chain so that producers and traders are legally recognized as legal business entities. Grants under this call range from €1,5 to 2.5 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations that can demonstrate clear working relations with Tanzanian government agencies involved in forestry and energy management. European Commission — Civil Society Development in Eritrea

The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Eritrea. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making in the areas of economic development, women’s rights, and sustainable development (agriculture, environment). Applicants may request between €300 thousand to €700 thousand in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or Eritrea. The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in India. The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Moldova. The action aims to support a fair energy transition and increased access to renewable energy for social buildings, and support improved access to water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools. Applicants may request between €700 thousand to €4.3 million in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union or Moldova. SHE Foundation — Global Seed Grant

Korea SHE Foundation promotes and creates safe and sustainable households, workplaces and local communities. The grant will fund community projects that are related to safety, health, and environment, e.g., campaigns, workshops, training programs, content production, etc. Projects can focus on finding solutions to and promote clean air and water, sustainable agriculture, clean energy, climate action, conservation, environmental education and environmental justice. Ashoka and HSBC — Green Changemakers Challenge

The Green Changemakers Challenge is a global innovation competition for social entrepreneurs in selected markets with ventures that equip individuals and communities with the skills needed to thrive in the transition to a green economy. The challenge seeks social entrepreneurs with ventures that solve the climate crisis along with social problems. IUCN and UNEP — Global Ecosystem-based Adaptation

The Global Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Fund supports scaling up innovative approaches to ecosystem-based adaptation to increase the resilience of communities against the impacts of climate change. The goal is to build awareness and understanding of the critical role of natural assets in underpinning resilience and expand the knowledge base to help make the case for working with people and nature. The fund is open for contributions of US$50 thousand to US$250 thousand, with no specified country focus. The maximum project duration is 36 months. Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa — Women Agripreneur Awards

Applications are open for the VALUE4HER Women Agripreneur of the Year Awards (WAYA). The award recognizes African women agripreneurs who have demonstrated remarkable innovation in their business by having an impact in food security, climate resilience, women and youth employment. WAYA recognizes women in three distinct categories, with each receiving a US$20 thousand cash prize. United Nations World Food Programme — Fighting Hunger Worldwide

The World Food Program (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. The program seeks profit and non-profit organizations with great ideas and bold solutions to solve hunger globally. The Innovation Accelerator offers financial support, training and access to WFP partners and technical experts.
