United Nations Industrial Development Organisation — Innovative Solutions towards Net-Zero

UNIDO seeks innovative technology solutions that address the adverse effects of climate change and that have the potential to be scaled up, and thus ultimately contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic development. Priority will be given to applications with solutions for: decarbonizing growing urban environments, generating and distributing clean energy, recycling for more climate-cautious consumption, and innovative solutions for sustainable land management. The call is addressed to private sector entities (micro, small, medium, and large companies & startups). Twelve winners will have the opportunity to present their innovative solution to a large audience during the Global Call award ceremony and will benefit from promotional and networking support. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Georg Forster Research Award

The Georg Forster Research Award supports the work of accomplished researchers who are expected to continue to develop research-based solutions to specific challenges facing transition and developing countries. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The award amount is €60 thousand. Additionally, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25 thousand. U.S. Department of State — TechCamp for Climate Action

The United States Department of State announces the 2022 Young Pacific Leaders TechCamp for Climate Action. The TechCamp will bring young leaders from across the Pacific together with regional and U.S. leaders in the field of climate science and science communication to identify innovative approaches to climate resiliency and mitigation. Applicants must be at least 23 years and have demonstrated professional experience in the field of climate science. Applications will be accepted until 10 August 2022. TechCamp for Climate Action

West African Research Association — Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowships

The West African Research Association (WARA), in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, announces support for young West African scholars through its Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowship program. The Fellowship program will award three doctoral research grants of US$4 thousand each. Priority will be given to research projects focusing on women, technology, entrepreneurship, and a wide range of other fields. Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs — Climate Leaders Fellowship

The Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship offers 16 young climate and clean energy practitioners from across the Global South the opportunity to broaden their technical skills and deepen their professional networks through an eight-month training program. Applicants should be between five and ten years into their professional careers and come from developing countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America or the Caribbean. SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Kenya

SEED offers valuable resources and professional support to expand entrepreneurial ideas while learning from peers during interactive SEED Starter workshops. SEED Starter workshops consist of a team of 2-5 members that bring in a business idea for addressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Successful alumni are invited to apply for a SEED Grant for up to €1,000 which pays for resources required to establish the new enterprise. Small Initiatives Program — Nature Conservation in Africa

The Small Initiatives Program (PPI) launches a call for project proposals for emerging African Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working around major issues of nature conservation and/or the fight against climate change. The eligible themes are the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change through nature-based solutions. The maximum contribution is €35 thousand. Government of India — ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship

The ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) aims to promote cooperation in science, technology and innovation through joint research activities in environmental management, climate change adaptation, agricultural technologies, alternative energy, biodiversity, biotechnology, and others. The Fellowship provides ASEAN young researchers with the opportunity to work at an Indian research/academic institution. The duration of the Fellowship will be for a period of 2-6 months. Fellows receive full financial assistance, including international travel, accommodation, meals, and a one-time grant of up to INR 40 thousand for research expenses. Climate Action Champions Network — Young Climate Leaders

The Climate Action Champions Network seeks young climate leaders from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan. The objective of the program is to inspire the South Asian young leaders to champion an ambitious climate action agenda in their respective countries and in the wider Indo-Pacific region. Prospective climate champions between the ages of 18 and 35, who are passionate about climate action, are encouraged to apply. The deadline for submitting applications is 15 July 2022. Know more

Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation — Development Grants for Africa

The Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation makes grants to local, national and regional organizations working to address challenges across the African continent. The Changemakers Innovation Challenge is open to non-profits and social enterprises who are using various technological tools to create innovative social solutions. Organizations must submit social solutions within the key focus areas: Health, Entrepreneurship, Environment or Leadership. Three winners will split the award of ₦15 million.
