European Journalism Centre — Climate Journalism Award

The Climate Journalism Award promotes and recognizes exceptional climate journalism that adopts an innovative or original story telling approach, encouraging journalists to prioritize reporting on climate-related issues. Stories can be submitted in five categories and winners will each receive a cash prize of €2,000. The submitted piece must have been published in a European-based media outlet. Allianz Global Investors — Illustration Competition

The “Art on Climate” International Illustration Competition invites illustrators from the Asia-Pacific region to create artworks that address the theme of climate change. The goal is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and solutions to tackle climate change. Prizes range from €2,000 to €150. Any person aged 18 or above is eligible to participate. LowCarbon Earth — Accelerator Program

Low Carbon Earth seeks startups operating in sectors related to climate tech, including but not limited to microplastics; agriculture; textiles; cooling; and renewables. Low Carbon Earth offers founders of startups based in the Asia-Pacific region a twelve-week intensive mentorship driven program. Climate Tracker — COP28 Energy Justice Team Africa

Climate Tracker seeks journalists from Africa to join their COP28 team. Selected journalists will join Climate Tracker to cover the global climate summit in-person and virtually. Climate Tracker seeks journalists from the Caribbean region to join their COP28 team. finalists will attend the COP28 conference and cover the climate story of Climate Tracker’s time. European Commission — Civil Society Development in Uzbekistan

The European Commission (EC) seeks to strengthen non-governmental actors and promote cooperation between civil society organizations to contribute to social change and sustainable development in Uzbekistan. One priority area is the Green Deal (i.e. climate change, environment). Applicants may request between €300 thousand and €450 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations. United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — Environmental Photographer of the Year

The Environmental Photographer of the Year competition showcases the most inspirational environmental photography from around the world. One award of £10 thousand will be granted to a single image that furthers people’s understanding of the causes and effects of environmental change and social inequality, or highlights solutions to the climate and ecological emergency. Science for Africa Foundation — Africa Science Journalism Awards

The Africa Science Journalism Awards (ASJA) recognizes and honors excellent reporting on science and innovation in Africa and aims to improve and increase coverage of science on the continent. The award will be given to African journalists whose stories cover health, climate change and environment, and/or agriculture. Prizes range from US$5,000 to US$1,500. The award is open to journalists and media houses, editors, and scientists. Stories must be informative and highlight how science is improving the lives of Africans. Allianz — Climate Risk Research Award

The Allianz Climate Risk Research Award supports scientific research that improves the understanding of climate change-related risks. PhD students from all around the world who are in the final stage of their research and postdoctoral researchers whose research focuses on reducing the risk of extreme weather events that are intensified by climate change; or fostering resilience by applying technological solutions are invited to apply. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Knowledge Program

The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) makes scholarships to mid-career professionals from selected developing countries for short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and master’s programs (duration 12-24 months). Eligible countries as well as eligible courses are listed in the announcement. Interested applicants need to first select a course and then contact the education institution of the course and ask how to apply for the scholarship. The application deadline is 05 September 2023.
