Government of Canada — Development Impact Window

The Government of Canada seeks Canadian Small and Medium Organizations (SMO) to apply to the Development Impact Window. The aim of this call is to reduce poverty and vulnerability in developing countries by promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. Action areas under this call include one on ‘Environment and Climate Action’. The total amount of funding available under this call is up to CA$36 million over five years. Only Canadian SMOs with projects in one or more official development assistance-eligible countries (especially Sub-Saharan Africa) may apply. Concept notes have to be submitted by 10 July 2019. World Bank — Developing an Agricultural Risk Financing Tool for Southern Africa

The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and partners seek innovators to design a tool that can support public finance decisions based on an integrated approach for the management of agriculture sector risks. The tool should help to prioritize investments in resilience and preparedness to reduce agriculture losses, poverty and food insecurity. All approaches should be scalable to regions or countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Crenov8 Consulting — Innov8Agric Challenge 2019

Crenov8 Consulting seeks innovative ideas and enterprises with projects and methods to improve the agriculture value chain across Africa. The competition is aimed at early stage Agric entrepreneurs from all sectors of the agriculture ecosystem. Winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to Dubai to participate and exhibit in the MTFC grand finale and pitch their idea for the top prize of US$5 thousand. U.S. Department of State — Equal Access to Jobs for Women in Agriculture

The EQUAL Project – Colombia provides funding to one technical assistance project in Colombia to economically empower vulnerable women and girls within the agricultural sector. The objective of the project is to reduce the risk of child labor, forced labor, and other violations of labor rights. Applicants may apply for up to US$5 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organisations, institutions of higher education, and businesses. The application deadline is 19 July 2019. Link

European Commission — Supporting Small-Scale Fisheries in Africa and the Indian Ocean

The European Commission seeks to support environmental sustainable of small-scale inland and marine fisheries in Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean region. The objective of this call is to secure more sustainable fisheries management and contribute to marine biodiversity and climate resilience. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €500 thousand and €1 million. Eligibility extends to a wide variety of organisations, including non-profit, social enterprise, businesses, local governments, or international organizations. Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Danida Market Development Partnerships 2019

Danida Market Development Partnerships promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Focusing on SDG 8, the main objective is to promote sustainable local economic growth and employment in developing countries in agriculture, energy, and other sectors. Applications are invited from consortia that include a business partner and an administrative partner, and possibly including additional partners from civil society, government, universities, etc. The program is available in Denmark’s priority countries for development assistance, and in selected other countries below the World Bank limit of lower-middle income countries that have a Danish representation. DMDP has a budget of DKK 100 million in 2019 for 10-12 partnerships. Danida’s support to the partnership project may cover up to 75% of total project costs. Climate Chance — Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019

Climate Chance opens the call for proposals for the Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019. The call is open to local authorities, businesses, NGOs, trade unions, scientists, representatives from agricultural, youth, women and indigenous organisations, educators and citizens. Initiatives corresponding to many themes will be considered: Access to climate finance in Africa; Developing African cities in a sustainable way; Agriculture, food and reforestation in Africa; Renewable energy and energy efficiency in Africa; Adaptation and Water in Africa; Education and Training on Climate Change in Africa; and others. ENGIE Africa invites innovators and startups to apply for the Call for Urban Power & Clean Water Solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. The call is open to developers of new technologies and service based solutions to improve reliable access to energy and clean water in urban Sub-Saharan Africa. Selected projects will be able to test the efficiency and viability of the proposed solution in the relevant environment (Testing phase), and based on the results of the testing phase, integration within the Engie Africa business portfolio and further co-development of the project. ETH Zurich makes competitive grants in two programs sponsored by its World Food System Center. They are: (i) Sustainability in Food Value Chains (Cooperative Research Program); and (ii) Organic Production Systems for Food Security (Mercator Research Program). Principal Investigators must be current members of the World Food System Center. Co-applicants can be from other research institutions in Switzerland or other countries. British Embassy Lima — Gender Equality, Clean Growth and Media Freedom

The British Embassy, through the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s programme, invites local and international organisations to submit proposals for projects on British Embassy priorities in Peru. There are four thematic areas, including ‘clean growth’ that relates to reducing the use of plastics and initiatives that contribute to making the Pan American and Parapan American Games carbon neutral.
